Ok, first off, I hope this is in the right spot. If not, I'm really sorry, and either delete or move to whichever area would be better. Now, onto my question...
Through scowering through different WH40K boards, I've come acrost this home-made codex:
From what it looks like, it was updated roughly 5-6 years ago last, so I think it might just be a dead project. However, I'm really interested in this. Now I realise that it (i think) isn't sanctioned by GW, but does anyone think that this is a decent and balanced codex? Would they mind letting someone use this to come up with their own army list? The AM seems like an awesome group, and I'd love to build up an army using it. I'd like to know if anyone has any problems with any of the items/point values/special rules/ect.
Now I know what some of you might say: Something to the effect of "You and your friends should make that decision". Yet, I'd really like a larger opinion if possible, maybe to the effect of making changes/exclusions to it to be more balanced perhaps?
It looks pretty cool, a nifty fluff army for sure. I feel certain things are a little overpowered, but then again, their actual FoC selections are a littel underpowered in sections. I can see why it was never really released. If it was me, I'd contact the guy working on it or try to rebalance it before I tried actually using it. G'luck dude.
Sig by:Knape, The Celestial, and Marlinspike, thanks guys!
Yeah I too have an Adeptus Mechanicus Codex that I downloaded 2 or 3 three years ago. I'll post a link on this thread when I get home tonight- might be useful to compare as it is different to the one you have linked to.
I've always thought it would be an interesting and certainly unique army to build. My only advice would be to proxy it and play a few games before starting to paint all that Mars red.
But go for it. Could be really good.
I tried e-mailing the creator, but the email bounced, so I'm back to square one unfortunatly.
Anyways, the basis for the force is to be able to get to a dangerous area that has relics, then be able to take or hold said area and retrieve the relic. The Tech-Guard seem more like a "move-in-and-shoot" squad, and the servitors geared towards more of a defensive position due to their slow movement. What I don't understand is the cult dragging along some civilian followers. Due to their lack of training, wouldn't they just be a burden?
Finally...a fellow follower of the machine cult..lol
I've seen several codexes like this...and this is by far the best FOR AN EXPLORER army.
you have to decide wether you want an explorer army, or an army of skitarii...
if you wan the skitarii, you should look at my post in the IG and witch hunters fourms,
or just make your own one using the doctines system.
anyways, good luck, and may the Omnissiah guide you.
Below is a link to a Codex Adeptus Mechanicus pdf:
Codex Adeptus Mechanicus
I am not claiming authorship for this, nor can I remember where I got it, but it is quite interesting nevertheless.
Hope it's of some use to you bgamer.
[EDIT: I've just noticed all of the 'M's are missing from the pdf - haven't a clue why].
Just an Idea if you plan on starting a Machine Cult army you got to check out the army
in the September 05' issue of White Dwarf. Dave Taylors army has to be the coolest
army I have ever seen! If you type...
...you may find more help there.
Wow, both the PDF file AND the yahoo group page are awesome. Guess I'm going to have a bit of nighttime reading for a few days...But yes, I definatly want an explorer army. Despite it's purtyness, I'd rather have an army going through the galaxy on a never-ending search then sitting on their hinds watching time fly.
I've actually wanted start a mostly servitor army, 2-3 robots for Anti-Armor, and maybe a unit or two of tech-guard with vehicle(s) for transportable firebases. Not sure what point value I'd shoot for, but I'll probably start with 500. Looking through the codex even that will give me a bit to play around with.
