I had an idea, IG are the best at city fights. They have hordes of cheep guys that are good at dying, not god aweful at cc, loads of cheap heavy firepower that can mow down troops and tanks, and tanks that can themselves deny streets to an opponent and kill whole squads at a time. They can either stay back in cover and mortor and basilisk people to death or run up, hit people with flamers, then fight and die while the rest of the army falls back to prepare for the next wave.
1500 years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the Universe
500 years ago everybody knew the world was flat
5 minutes ago you knew humans were alone on the planet
Imagine what you'll know tomorrow
I'd actually give the edge to the Nids or the orks.
As much as we have alot of heavy weapons we also need a lot of clear space to use them in. Or mortars and other indirect fire options aren't bad but overall I'm not impressed with the IGs ablity to work well in close quarters.
Huh? Who, besides Tau, is more god awful?Originally Posted by Phoenix Guard 1988

So, who would be best for CF? Space Marines?
Cadian Enforcement Taskforce(1500) (3/3/2)
181st Cadian (1500) (0/1/4)
Probably. After their latest Codex with traits, they can be the best at what ever they want.Originally Posted by Rogoth
However, they wont have as many bodies as The Guard, and I like to think that we are the best at anything.
It's worth a krak!
i think guard are pritty good in cityfight. they fit the scenery very well if they have the right camo. plus its fun to use those vet squads to their maximum effectiveness. the only downside is that those tanks are extremely vulnerable in cityfight.
Where there's a will there's a weapon
We're not the best at anything....we're more or less average at everything. Average BS, worse than average armor, better than average heavy and special weapon concentration, worse than average CC higher than average numbers and the list goes on.Originally Posted by Plasma Catcher
We're not the best and numbers don't mean much if you don't use them right.
but when you do use them right dam can we make marines and other alike look like amateurs

I would agree that is true but the problem I see is that IG is a broad sword or warhammer, no pun intended, its only useful in larger more widespread battles. Where as Uberines are a more flexible force that can field a raiper or a hammer. Force like Nids and Orks are like viruses they're more or less adaptable to the situation at hand. Eldar can be pretty nasty depending on which particualar craft world they come form...such cheese will hopefully be adjusted in the new codex.
It could be that our biggest problem is reliance on troops rather than Elite/FA/HS options can be a problem but when our elite options are what they are....its rather hard to see the point of taking anything other than only vets...though I am beginning to see more use for ratlings. I mean really why should our elite Strom troopers be equppied with such a crappy weapon? The hellgun sucks the big one in terms of an overall upgrade in power over the lasgun. I'd rather have a 4S 6AP weapon than a 3S 5AP weapon. At least then we'd be doing more wounds.
FA...I'm sort of disappointed because they really aren't that fast, mostly just basic units with a few nice twists if you can get them positioned right.
HS...the best thing IG has going for them so everyone plays against it. What else to say, It seems we live and die more by how our HS units do than just about any other part of our army.
