I was thinking of making a DH army why nothing but a dread, purgatation sqaud, and rhinos/chimeras. everything else deepstrikes. Do you think this'll work?
If they all come down at once with no scattering, sure. If they come down seperate, an army which is already fully deployed will eat each squad as they come down because they will have probably destroyed most of the vehicles simply because there's not a whole lot else to shoot at. All of the anti-infantry weapons (like heavy bolters/Autocannons) will be used to kill the transports. I think you'll have around five vehicles and not a whole lot else to start with, means probably all destroyed by the end of turn 3, everything inside is reduced to walking and, as said above, the DSers get killed as they come down.
On the other hand, if they scatter, they will be so far removed from support, assuming they don't die when they come down, that there is a chance that they will be swamped with bodies if you're playing a horde army or, again, mowed down as they come in if they're not.
Plainly, I think that the army would end up scattered around the board with no real way to consolidate and make a real attack.

This seems pretty, cool, but really this is a risky army man! This will either do well or get killed, I dont think you should rely on anything like AV 11-12 and deepstrike, its just too much of a risk! Purg squads are EXTREMELY hard to use, use them well, use them only when you really need them, otherwise they are a point sink, grey knights are better vanilla!

The gold grey knight man. These are hardy men who like cheese.
Ever thought of how cheese was found?:
`` I say sah, the milk in this barrel smells foul!``
``Oooohhh, give it a go!``
''Quack, damn you!''

Yeah, that was what I was thinking...Im still thinking about walking some IST's so there's something else to shoot.
I use a mechanized force and "the rest deep strikes" part is just a fraction of the army- basically my GKT HQ and another unit of GKT or FAPAGK. The rest of my points are poured into mech IST, Armoured Fist and a Leman Russ.
I play a mech Grey Knight army and it works quite well.
It consists of
Grand master, Icon of just, Daemon Hammer
7 terminator retinue
1 justicar 9 Grey knights
10 Storm Troopers with rhino dozer blades and psy bullets.
Then I get
2 Land Raider Crusaders with psy bolts and dozer blades.
This list has worked well for me currently I can kill most army’s Grey Knight normally could just I still can’t beat those stupid daemonettes mounted or other wise there still very annoying.

Why do you replace the awesome nemesis force weaon(which for once actually IS a force weapon) for a daemonhammer? Is this for fluff reasons, or what, I've just never seen it done before.Originally Posted by Repenting Legion

Madeinchina7285 got the just of it yes he has his Force weapon and Daemon Hammer now for what was not covered.
1. You may not give a Grand master a ccw for he is in terminator armor.
2. The Daemon hammer is still a thunder hammer and is awesome when it comes to fluff and modeling.
3. Bs 5 I to understand this and neglect it for the reason I plan on entering combat relatively quickly most of the time and one more atk can decide whether or not the squiggy drops or if I kill those god forsaken Chaos Lords with runes and good saves.
The army is very good and need a lot of thinking at times. heather to shoot or charge LOL.
No offense is meant I just wished for my opinion to be heard.

As I understand the rules, only GKs taken as Fast Attack choices have the option to deep strike. Troops GKs and Purgation Squads must be deployed normally and footslog it. It is therefore impossible to make a 100% deep striking DH army. At the very least, your two troops choices will be on the ground.
That said, I'm not sure I'd go for it even if it were possible. 100% drop pods ... sure! 'Cause you get a vehicle you can use to help protect your troops. Not to mention that drop pods ensure that, even if you scatter, your troops don't die. Which, of course, is entirely possible when you deep strike. An entire army of naked deep strikers seems to be inviting disaster.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.
