Now I know there are a few posts in the past about Canonesses and such, but there are a few questions about them and how they should be used.
There is the standard HQ hunting cannoness, potentially gaining a 2+ inv save and 8 strength when given an eviscerator. Now everyone says if it has a eviscerator give her a bolt pistol, would anyone give her an inferno pistol? With her BS you are garaunteed to hit and kill anything you shoot at, imediately earning its points back. Is it really that bad? IMO that inf pistol is awesome, difenitly able to get its points back. Why a bolt pistol at all? And secondly I was wondering if any of you master-craft your eviscerators? She's bound to miss at least once or twice, and i feel for the points cost to MC it, i believe worth it.
Next, i wanted to discuss the blessed weapon compared to an eviscerator. Now if armed with a Blessed weapon she will have a strength of 5, she can't insta kill anything, so I think it is for the cannoness that goes around and kills other W1 units, probably supporting the troops. If so, why do people give her the Inferno pistol + Blessed weapon combo? Isn't the Inferno pistol better suited to the character hunting evisceratored canoness? But then again, Inf pistol is bound to get its points back, so why not equip both with them?
And with a blessed weapon, she is going to strike around the same time as any troops, and the chances of her dying to standard W1 units is very low. BUT the Blessed weapon is MCed! Making it that much more efficent. I think it is a dificult choice to make.
Now I don't have much experience with WH, but I was wondering what you guys think about this and what you equip your HQ hunting canoness with - do you have 2 HQ hunting? And what role the second canoness should be put to?
There is probably something obvious I am missing out on so don't hesistate to fill me in. This questions just been bugging me for ages.
I always seem to be low on points so i dont bother with the inf pistol, at least on the HQ killer canoness. WHy? becasue the eviscerator gets the S8 hits i need. some use the inf pistol for AT, more the reason to not give it to the eviscerator canoness. But the main reason why i dont usually bother with the inf pistol is that with its short range and the fragility of a canoness means that it usually wont get fired more than once per battle.Originally Posted by Firax
As for master crafting the eviscerator, once again not enough room in points. also 4 attacks is generally enough to insta kill an IC.
although 15 ponts for either of these options sounds like a bargain, the points could be spent more productivly, for example you could use those points to upgrade a sister squad to celestians (an option zinfandel repeatedly presses even though i opt out of it)Originally Posted by Firax
I consider the inf pistol much more on a blessed wpn canoness. why? The pistol offers insta killing ability if an HQ gets close, and provides a backup AT wpn. As to the blessed wpn, i use it specifically for mop up duties. this is because when a sister squad unloads and 1 or 2 marines stand, they can tie you up literally for the rest of the game. The blessed wpn can easily finish them off.
Regarding equipping BOTH with inferno's... To keep it simple, the eviscerator canoness is specifically singling out enemy HQ's. so why have an inferno pistol? its either not oging to do jack or it will deny you the charge.
But when you're hunting groups of models like the blessed wpn then killing one is good because it wont deny you your charge[/QUOTE]Originally Posted by Firax
My standard HQ loadout.....
HQ1 = Canoness: Blessed weapon, inferno pistol, cloak of st. aspira, jump pack = 130pts
HQ2 = Canoness: Eviscerator, cloak of st. aspira, jump pack = 110pts
Well, hope that helps, im not very good at explaining things but im sure some one else *cough red cough* will give more detailed insight
