I was wondering if the Vendicator would be worth the points? Because I never used one or have I seen anyone use one. I was thinking about putting one in my next army list but I wasn't sure. I would give it PoMS and dozer blades. Sence the ordnace weapon doesn't requier a BS, the PoMS would work wonders for it. So are Vendicators worth their points?

A vindicator can definitely have a great potential in an army. However, the short range and lack of indirect fire means that you will always need to get somewhat exposed to enemy fire. With the IG equivalent weapon on a Leman Russ Demolisher, this is less of a problem due to better armor. Though the demolisher can literally "demolish" nearly any unit, Every anti tank weapon will be on it from first turn. As far as targbet priority, vindicators are more of a threat than even LR/LRC. My suggestion, vindicators may be great on a heavily terrained board, but on an open field there is a good chance they will never fire.

Yeah i was thinking of including one, if not two in my next list. I think combined with PoMS it would work well, being able to shoot effectively 30", so could most likely reach the enemy from turn one, while still getting into a good firing position. Although i'd give it smoke launchers as well, just to be sure. I'd also like to hear what other, more experienced SM commanders have to say. Thanks
Well said and proper spelling. :shifty:Originally Posted by JuliusGaiusCaesar

The enemy will be very, very scared of these things. I personally hate them with my Chaos marines because it means that all my poor cc units are going to be squished.
Put them somewhere bad for the enemy and that low point vindicator will stop anyone from even attempting to go to that side of the board.
In an open gaming table they might not be the best choice because of their limited range but on a city fight table they can be really nasty, it really depends on the board type and the style of army you play, but it can draw heavy fire off of your units and leave them unmolested while the enmey gets scared of the demolisher bringing its big gun to bear.

They are excellent if used properly.
think about the possibilityes you can nuke a terminator commandsquad in one shot.
they are also very intimidating if you (brag about what the tank can do befor battle and your opponent will avoid it, OR they will be so compelled to destroy it that they make stuipid mistakes to make you eat your words) yes psychological warfare its awsome.
However if you play on a table that has very little terrain then I would advise not to use it.
You should have at least one piece of area terrain big enough to block Line of Sight for every 2 square feet.

I find Vindicators to be amazingly powerful. The 'short' range of the Demolisher means nothing when the battlefield itself is only 48" wide. You can get a turn 1 shot off without trouble. It is devastating against any MEQ army. Against vehicles, however, you only get one penetrating hit at most, so 3-las preds work better here...although it does feel nice to roll on the Ordnance Penetrating table.
Ironically, Tyranids will give this tank the most problems. It won't kill the little bugs any faster than a Whirlwind and both TMCs and warriors(!) will only take one wound at a time.

Vidicators are very good at scaring your enemy (like a basilisk...) you should put a squad of mairnes near or in front of it to take the pelting.

Vindicators are excellent tanks. I field one (or two) in all my MECH-lists.
Why you ask? Because Vindicators need some form of protection to function correctly. Therefore, I ride my armoured assault up the field to protect my Vindicator for enemy fire. Here come pictures and stuff to explain.
1. I play Space Wolves, my Venerable Dreadnought makes me have a 75% chance of getting the first turn, making me go up the field first .
I deploy like this:
I ride up the field of battle like this popping smoke. When I get in range this will be my position:
My Rhino's split up sideways covering lots of terrain, protecting my now deploying units that deploy towards the Vindicator from enemy fire. My Vindicator shoots (pray he hits) at the most dangerous unit in sight while troops rapid fire (if in range).
After that my Rhino's/Vindicators are dead OR function as mobile cover/tank shockers/shooting platforms.
I win by my troops though. For Vindicators, they are nice, but they have to fit in with the rest of your list.
