I am trying to build a friendly WH force and wanted:
2-3 seraphim squads (at least 1 of which is AT)
2-4 IST squads in chimeras
Living Saint HQ
And then an inquisitor HQ w/ retinue in an immolator
At first, because it was an immolator, I was thinking close combat but I seem to be having problems getting a usable cc inquisitor so came up with this (how does it look?)
-Figure he loves to burn the heretics since he does ride in an immolator so the immolator does make sense ...
Inquisitor Lord w/ Eviscerator, Inferno Pistol (possibly rosarius if pts are left over)
3 warriors (vet imp guard w/ meltaguns)
Makes a NASTY anti-tank unit that is not that expensive (considering 4 melta-weapons with at least BS 4, rerolling 1 miss) - and then the immolator causing problems - and it is pretty nice that is can move its full 12" then fire ... so some potential turn 1 nastiness
does that sound like an ok inquisitor? the eviscerator gives some serious close combat ability, especially against the tanks that the unit wishes to target (and the warriors have krak grenade as well)
=][= cannot be transported in a Immolator. That is a Sisters-only transport.
Otherwise, your =][= seems OK, but I would take either Eviscerator or Inferno pistol to cut the cost even further (do not forget about the low CC stats for any =][=)...
Unless I'm mistaken - the immolator is heavy support - and anyone can ride within it ... certain squads can take it as transport - and then it is a dedicated transport.
I am planning on taking it as heavy support and thus I believe any unit in my army could ride within it (like a land raider crusader)
I could ditch the inferno pistol if I need to save points - that is very true
Thanks for the input
you are half mistaken, immolators are HS but are also transport choices for certain unitsOriginally Posted by schreier
Everything you have been told is a lie!
You are right, as long as you have any Sisters in your army, you can use a HS slot and take one, and then you can put any 6-or-under squad in it. Since you only take 2 Exos, you have one slot left for the ImmyOriginally Posted by schreier
As long as you have Sisters in your army, you can buy an Immolator and use it as a transport. So it's just fine for your Inquisitor.
Since it's mostly a shooting squad why not invest in an Elite Inquisitor since they are cheaper. This will not effect your current henchmen in the slightest and you can still ride the Immolator provided you took it as a heavy choice. While inferno pistols a good when you are moving fast I have to admit I'm always just getting into flamer range in my mechanised army so it might be a better idea to get a 12" weapon, combi-weapons arn't bad.
Remember acoltyes can hold weapons too as long as they are 15pts or below, so if you want to increase the fire power even more theres your chance. May be an idea to get some in place of becoming a Lord and the familiars.
Does the Inquisitor NEED to be in the Immolator?
If I had to fill up a Retinue, I think the best deal is to go with three Heavy Bolters on Gun Servitors. Deploy them in the best piece of terrain, and their saves will be almost as good as friggin Retributors.
Sisters Repentia: Wow what beautiful models! Wow what terrible rules! -stjohn70
If you want a CC =][=, I would suggest three Crusaders - they get a Power Weapon, WS of 4 and a Inv Save of 4. Now if you give your =][= (not Lord but maybe Elite version) similar stats/gear that should make for a nice, small supporting squad to your main army... You might also get two "Medics" for ignoring wounds.
