Ok, I'm using Eye to Eye in my chapter, which means I got only one choice here for my FA: bikes or LS. Anyone out there have an opinion?
I tend to use Landspeeders since they can get assault cannons and can fly over terrain without having to make crash checks. However even moving 12"/turn they can very fragile to concentrated fire. Bikes tend to be slightly more durable and less expensive but I have a hard time finding anything that intimidates people as much as seeing me pick up 21 dice for one squadron's shooting.
Try your luck with both and see what fits better into your army. Don't forget about scout bikers. The save isn't as good, and the weapon mix allowed is different, but they get a scout move. It can really throw people for a loop if you have several fast attack choices.
Landspeeders are feast or famine. They either spend the game going on a delightful joyride of death and mayhem generating VPs for you at a frightening rate, or get blown out of the sky in fairly short order without coming close to making their points back.
I have not used bikes enough to know if the same applies to them as well.
May your aim be true, and your targets plentiful.
Land speeder tornados with heavy bolters and assault cannons, with three of these horde armies will run in fear, not to mention power armored armies will have a handfull with 12 assault cannon shots and 9 heavy bolter shots.

Landspeeders are something I always view as deployable in singles or units.
Bikes are something I always view as only deployable in units.
If you are going to use bikes, I would use a good number of them.
But with a Landspeeder, one is fine and then the more the merrier.
So what kind of points/slots are you working with here?
Sig by:Knape, The Celestial, and Marlinspike, thanks guys!
That would depend on your army.
Id gernerally go with a Landspeeder.
However bikes would make better use of a single selection of a fast attack choice(of the fun ones that is)
Still working on the "Master" list, but right now the army has two tac squads, a 10-man assault squad led by my chappie, a five-man termie squad (including librarian), dread, building a predator, assembling a sniper scout team, more stuff to come!
Id go with LST's armed with an assault cannon and heavy bolter. They are such fantastic vechiles, maybe even the best in the Space Marine codex. The posess so much speed, which is backed up by heavy firepower.
Bikes are also good though and are capable of doing just about any role you kit them out to forfill.
But out of the two i would go for the speeders
Well everyone is saying that the AC+HB Land Speeder rocks. In fact they do.
However, i'd just like to remind u that there's another very effective speeder outfit we SM have - Multi-melta. That's right, a single LS w/MM can often blow up tanks costing many times its points. So it's an effective consideration, esp. if ur Dred is going for the AC+DCCW config, to provide some backup AT punch. (two lascannon tac squads are slightly not enough in 1500).
True, very true.
The multi melta config is very good and powerful and can exel at tank busting, but generally it only gets to pop about one tank per game then its finished.
But the AC and HB combo tends to be more durable and lasts longer, and in my opinion is the better option due to its great flexibility. It can zoom around and just take shots here and there and be a real nuisense for your opponent....awesome stuff!
And if you feild them in a group of three, well then they become even more dangerous due to the awesome firepower that they can dish out per round of shooting.
Everyone should keep in mind that Eye to Eye only allows ONE squadron of bikes or landspeeders.
A squadron of landspeeders like Tycho suggested would undoubtly give you awesome amounts of firepower but at the same time is very much all your eggs in the one basket. I think its too risky, if one of the three is stunned, then chances are you would lose the entire squadron in the following turn as they would be sitting ducks. And also the fact that enemy shots are spread through the unit means that you could lose the entire squadron to a lucky round of shooting. All this combined with the fact that three landspeeders are very hard to hide means that i would advise having only one in the unit.
Bikes? i play ravenwing so i have good uses for them. I havent figured how to use them in an ordinary army as they would be real expensive for what they do. So cant give you tips there. Just do what Escaflowne said and try them both out. Only then can you really decide on what works best.
Good luck with it!
