I just realized something. Salamanders Terminators are 5 points less than the normal ones, because they have 1 less initiative. So what? They're striking last with their powerfists, anyway. Has anyone else noticed this awesomeness?

Henceforth no man shall set foot upon the world, and all around shall be set sentinals to ward away unwary spacecraft. We must accept that this place is lost to us forever, and is now the eternal habitation of abomination.

i thought they were less points because the salamanders have better artificiers, so terminator armor would be less uncommon.

Aye that is the reason. Normally the rarity of Tactical Dreadnought Armour is reflected in the points cost of Terminators. Salamanders are amongst the greatest artificers the imperium has, and they're better (and quicker) in creating or repairing Terminator armour, hence they have a larger supply, which in turn is reflected in the army list so that people are more inclined to use them, making the Salamanders armies used for battles follow the fluff of that chapter more accurately.
Hmm that was a fairly long sentence  ...

Hurrah! A good thing with playing Salamanders... <_< After playing with them since their release, I found out that the -1I and -1 inch fall back is a massive disadvantage. For instance your commander CANNOT beat a chaos lieutenant or anything else with I5. And the risk that an aspiring champion armed with a powerweapon kills him is HUGE! So what if his sword is mastercrafted for -5 pts? It might seem that their characters would get better with all the reduced costs and increased access, but in fact they only get killed. And more expensive...
