I'm looking to building an army and I want to go mainly assult. Now I do want some ranged still for decent cover. I'm stuck between choosing Black Templar and Space Wolves. Which should I choose and does anyone have any other suggestions?
Both armies have their upsides. A similar one being that they will lack in the ranged fire area since the "normal" squads are close combat based and don't have much of diddly for anything above 12''.
I always say that you should read up on the backgrounds of the army and see which one appeals to you more, if you choose an army based on a "trick" it does then you will get bored of that army pretty quickly, sometimes before you even have the army built.
For example, I play space wolves because I really like the idea of a bunch of celtic power-axe wielding barbarian vikingesq warriors roaming the stars.
If you like the idea of a bunch of crazy knight guys cutting a swathe of destruction to expand the territory of the Imperium, then the BT may be for you.

WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
Agree with everything theyak said. The BT did just get their own book and some new mini's. Might want to check that out. When you start building the army, get the cc marine models before everything else. They're usually harder to find/more expensive than boring old bolter marines. Same deal for cc scout models, which both of those armies can use well.

Or you can just make your own trait chapter. Like giveing your chapter some advantiges and disadvantiges(i so spelt them wroung:yes: ). Or you can use one of the other chapter that don't have thier own codex. Like if you want cc and you want to get into cc fast. Go with the Raven Guard. With Shrike(not looking at codex at moment) and give him a rutine that can all infaltrate and have jump packs. The Raven Guard are really something to look at because of Shrike. And don't forget there are some other Space Marine chapters.

Hey Easy G, just for future reference and right now, posting stats online is against copyright rules, so you should take it down before a mod comes here and do it for you~
Otherwise there are a few ways to get a CC army with shooting, it all comes to tastes in Fluff (Fiction of the army), Looks, and style of play.
Blood Angels - One of the fastest hard hitting CC chapter.
Space Wolves - One of the hard hitting cc chapters with quanity in hits.
Black Templars - Another Cc chapter with special rules that assist them.
Create your own chapter or use DIYs.
Sorry I'm not in-depth right now. Basically just take a look at the first three first and see if you like any. If not.. then you can customize your own.
Well if you want an army that can handle in cc and shooting then I would say SW. They have a lot of fluff and can do both. BT are great in Combat with their 20 man squads but they lack in the heavy option. While SW can more than handle in cc but they can also handle in shooting. They can get the Leman Russ Exterm. which is great for anti inf. But choose what you like, read the fluff it always helps.
I would really suggest SW because BT are way too unrealiable when they weild and heavy weapon and don't have acces to devastators. I would also not recommend BA because of the same reason as BT, they are too unrealible when it comes to be able to fire that heavt weapon.
While SW don't run in an uncontrolled run they are very fast hitting and very strong in CC. The SW have more fluff of the kind have fun, kill the xenos if you like and have fun(did I alreadt mentioned it). While the BT are more of the serious kind they have crusades all over the universe and fight solely for the emperor.
