Hello! I'm a pretty recent warhammer and daemonhunter player and am playing a match with a friend who is equally new this weekend. He is playing witch hunters and I was wondering if there is any general strategies you guys know of that are good against them? I would really appreciate the help , also my other friends who are pretty good will be their and maybe offering some hints and moves , hope you guys can help me!
Theres a checklist to go thrue in order of what you need to hope and do.
1.Hope he does not run 3 exorcist.
2.Hope he does not get first turn.
3.Hope he does not blow up your crusader your only hope of making it to the other side of the field in one peice.
4.You run a decent amount of assault troops and get into assault str3 tough3 wont stand long to hit on 3s wound on 2s.
5.Hope you make it into combat with somthing beside serephin if you dont kill them on your assault theyll hit and run you, flamer or inferno pistol you sister squad rapid fire then charge with seraphin again.
6.Hope he forgets to use faith points or force him to use them to your advantage.
If you took the 2 guard squads and a Russ blast them with that he will give them an invul after that resolves open up with psy cannon and bolts to drop the squad works once in a while.
Not much you can do,there cheaper have better hvy support they could have a russ too and 2 exorcist (Shudders)or worst 3 exorcist.
I feel as though ive betrayed my nuns with guns brethren but I hope this helps.

There are three things you really need to watch out for from the Witch Hunters:
1. Faith points and shooting
At short range, and a faith point expediture for Divine Guidance, Sisters of Battle are the deadliest troops in the game with their shooting. Under no circumstances should you allow your troops to be caught in rapid-fire range while your opponent has any Faith points left; you will be obliterated. This is especially true when they have flamers. The other uses of faith on most SoB troops aren't quite as handy, not if you're running mostly GKs, anyway. ISTs really don't stand a chance against SoB at range or in CC.
Seraphim are some the most versatile, most dangerous troops in the entire game. They're fast, well armoured, and have an excellent arsenal of weapons. Combined with faith -- again, especially with Divine Guidance -- they can destroy, literally, anything. I often take an allied unit with my Daemonhunters (2x hand flamers, vet w/power weapon), and seriously, these girls can wipe out anything and everything. Even in close combat, though only of average STR and T, they have a large number of attacks on the charge -- and if played wisely they should always get the charge -- and so are bound to follow up their shooting with a deadly assault. Since there are no limits to Faith point expediture, be especially wary of a Divine Guidance shooting phase followed by yet more Faith to pump the girls up when they hit your lines. Seraphim must be a high priority target for you, perhaps the highest.
Exorcists are just plain mean. d6 STR 8 missiles per turn can destroy anything from range very quickly, especially if your opponent has more than one Exorcist at hand. Their weakness, like all SoB tanks, is that they are very weakly armoured: 11 all around, except for 13 at the front. You should bring enough anti-tank units to take out Exorcists as quickly as possible. The other SoB tanks -- Immolators and Rhinos -- shouldn't prove too difficult to ignore or destroy.
So the hardest thing about playing against WH is the cat-and-mouse game. Try and keep them at a distance until you are in a position to assault them yourself. If you initiate the assault, they will crumple.

ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

Just as an aside
Yes, Seraphim are a high priority target, but that does not nessecarily mean charge them when given a chance. This is where they are deadly as they will hit and run and fire at you then assault you. You will find that if he uses faith points to do an invulnerable save you will be hard pressed in killing them. Even when they have str 3 tough 3. They will tie up your expensive hard hitting CC all day. To limit their effectiveness charge one of his normal SOB squads first. You will knock them around like nothing, and will be tied in close combat denying him the chance to fire at you with Seraphim, and have him being able to hit and run then fire at you again. So he will be forced to either assist that troop squad in CC in which (since he was unable to whittle you down with inferno pistols and flamers) he will be at a disadvantage. When he does this you can then swing your attacks back on his seraphim. You play DH so you should be superior in CC by far.
Awesome reverse engineering on building a WH army here, hehe...thanks! =D
also remember this killing sister superiors gives him faith points, killing SOB squads gives him faith points, and killing SOB HQ units give him faith points. SO when in the assault phase and you have several assaults going slow down and pick which assault you want to go first carefully. If you kill of his SOB sqaud with a Sister superior while stuck in combat with a Seraphim and/or cannonnes well you just made those other two squads stronger by giving them faith points so resolve assaults against the latter troops first. by doing this you will be forcing him to burn faith points, and then have less valuable troops to use faith points on later in the game when you kill off those more powerful Serapham and SOB HQ units.
Finally don't forget that you force weapons can instant kill his characters.
Get into close combat, there is no use hiding as the witchunters have an incredibly powerful tank called the exorcist. just charge in with everything making use of your cover. Try to charge him before he can make use of his stupid flamers, and make use of your str 6 t4 grey knights to beat up those poor sisters of battle.

If you are walking your Grey Knights, be mindfull to kill Rhino's very fast as well. Psycannons are good for these. Rhino's carry Chicks with Bics (Flamers that is!) They pop out of Rhino with a Heavy Flamer and a Flamer, but a lovely dose of Divine Guidaince on you and wipe out half or more of your 10 man squad.
