So... EVERYONE whom I play 40k with plays with the CHEEZY armies. Godzilla, Speedfreaks, all infiltrating Nurgle, 200+ model IG, foot sloggin orks (jk lol no foot sloggin). I was just wondering how I can field a well balanced army expecting to beat them?
I haven't played them with this list but I think it is pretty well rounded. (Too lazy to list points costs sry but it is 1500)
SM Chaplain w/ JP + BP
10 Man Assault Squad 2x PP, srg w/ TA, PF
5x Termies w/ 2x AC
6x scouts w/ snipers
5x tac squad w/ LC+PG
2x LS w/ AC+HB
Pred A. w/ Side LC's
8x Dev w/ 4x HB
I've been having a really hard time with them and I don't want to buy a WHOLE new army just to win. Would this be an able bodied list able to deal with most of them?
Look man, I play Eldar and just about the only way to remain competative is to do a 'cheesy' army. You would I guess say starcannons are cheese right? Starcannons are not cheese. An assault cannon is better and you've taken 4 of them. Couple the starcannon with Eldar bs and you have a weapon that hits 1.5 times a turn. An assault cannon will hit roughly 2.5 times a turn. One of those hits is quite likely to be rending and can kill pretty much anything.
Other than that it looks a good list. (I also play marines) I also know how much havoc a jump packing chaplain can cause because I use one. Good on ya!
1 more thing, what is 'TA' on your assault squad sarge? Shouldn't that be 'TH' for terminator honours? Cause I wouldn't want to fly with terminator armour on!

Eldrad is the greatest among us, he is the sun which eclipses the light of our stars.
He is Ulthwe.
Forelli's gonna get ya!
Cheese is taking advantage of the rules, finding loopholes to exploit for the sole purpose of winning. No army that you have mentioned is "cheesy", in fact, speedfreaks and Godzilla nids have been featured in White Dwarf. The armies are just different from the norm.Originally Posted by DKnightJ
You have to have flexibility in your army to take these kinds of things. Every army has a disadvantage. The Godzilla list is extremely slow, unless its all stealers for troops, but your bolters, vindicator, assault cannons, and HB should put a good amount of holes in em. The Nurgle list is tough, but what happens in a scenario with no infiltrate?
Are you seriously complaining about a 200+ model IG list? Your assault squad alone could win the game for you. Flashlights (lasguns), even in those kinds of numbers will do little damage. And he's going to be jam packed on his side of the table. You assault squad can hop from squad to squad, cutting guys down, especially when accompanied by a chaplain.
Any army can be defeated, true "cheese" lists are not fun to play, but hey, they wont be winning tournaments either... thats what sportsmanship is for... :shifty:
I agree with numberofthebeast. Because speedfreaks are just so vulnrenble to penetrating hits that blow up there vehicle.
If you want to beat them play senario's and hope that the rules are a bit in your advance. If you have the escalation special rule then there MC will come on the table one by one and will be an easy pick-of.
I would also drop the termies because they are way to much points in a 1500 points battle. you could better include 1.5 tactical squad.
Don´t mess with the dicegod
?? It can kill pretty much anything...that a starcannon can as well. And it beats 3+ and 2+ saves less than 50% of the time...compared to 100%.An assault cannon will hit roughly 2.5 times a turn. One of those hits is quite likely to be rending and can kill pretty much anything.
But more on topic most of those lists taht you gave aren't all that cheesy. They are actually more like on trick ponies that can easily be run over by more balanced SM armies.
Nevermore Chapter: 6200 pts; 97/49/11; Longest Streak: 9 Wins/4 Losses; Nearing Completion
In my opinion, if its legal then it isn't cheesy. Some people may set their army lists up just to win, which is usually not as fun for either player, but this still isn't cheesy. Your list looks okay, but you shouldn't expect to beat them at first, but to learn from the games on ways to improve it.
"DICE FOR THE DICE GOD!"
And the almighty Dice God said to his followers "Thou shalt not speak ye words "anything but a one" For thou whoever'st speaketh this blasphemy will be cursed with thy rolls being of one".
To me, Cheese is what milk curds turn to after many months being stuck in a sack with tase-deveoping bacteria. Also what gets yelled at me when my army focusses it's entire firepower on the ridicuous 1,200pt sqaud (or whatever) and just barely kills them. It sucks.
And speaking of Starcannons, if I was to fight a Starcannon heavy list I'd just try and knock them out. So what it has S6 AP2. Where's the rending for those 3 BS3 heavy shots? Our Assault cannons shoot one extra time at the same strength at the same range with better BS. The weakness? AP4. Who cares? RENDING! (kudos to Machivelli)
Everyone wants only to have the best. The only thing stopping this and forcing us to use weaker troops is because we'll probably be outnumbered (by the others subject to this rule) and we're all afraid of being labelled as 'beardy cheese'.
Personally, I don't care for cheese. If it's a f*cking hard list, let me fight and lose like a man.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
This should be fine.Originally Posted by DKnightJOk if everyone's taking cheesy lists, drop these. They will not help you. Carnifexes have a 3+ armour save so sniper rifles kinds suck.6x scouts w/ snipersTake more of these if possible. They are great against TMCs and Wraithlords and ignore their armour saves.5x tac squad w/ LC+PGThese should be good, but more would be better.2x LS w/ AC+HBIf you're facing cheesy armies, they will probably have enough antitank that these won't help you too much. If possible, go for more termies, LSTs, and maybe a whirlwind because they are good against orks.Pred A. w/ Side LC's
VindicatorHmm, use missile launchers instead of HBs. With only 3 shots, they won't do too well and LSTs can do a lot more for less points. Plus MLs are great aginst all-infiltrating Nurgle.8x Dev w/ 4x HBHmm, you need more LSTs definately, they are really good for the points... and you could use some missile launchers. Someone might be willing to trade this stuff via LO trade for the Pred and vindi. I got about 20 MLs via LO trade.I've been having a really hard time with them and I don't want to buy a WHOLE new army just to win. Would this be an able bodied list able to deal with most of them?
I'd say get over with whining about those armies, speedfreeks, godzilla nids, footslogging orks, infantry heavy IG armies, what the hell is cheesy about those armies.
james u suck
