ok first off, you'd get more if any feedback if you posted this in the army list section of the imperial guard ...section. that being said i'll go ahead and hit quick and through

    hq:
    command squad-
*don't need all the wargear on the officer
*the command squad's job is provide leadership, aka honorifica/hso/id/standard/mastervox
*the special/heavy weapons require line of sight to use, which means enemy can also see you and fire back. also, with every man having some type of extra points weapon, each wound taken costs many points.
*best way to keep protected from fire, is not allow enemy ability to fire, so stay out of line of sight, if you want shooty, i'd suggest mortar. it's indirect fire and can sometimes pin, underrated.

    elites:
    stormtroopers-
*if meant to be a line squad, add in numbers and go with double plasma guns
*if meant to be a suicide kill squad, keep at 5 man squad and go with either double melta or double plasma guns. just don't go one and one.
    * also, you made no mention on if purchasing infiltrator or deep strike, not sure if you meant not to. because unless you buy it, then they can't use it.
*consider hardened veterans, but that's a matter of preference.

    ratlings-
*if plan on using this, i'd say take a full unit of them otherwise the wounds inflicted just wont add up.

    deathworld veteran snipers-
*not sure where you decided to try putting these in here, don't think they can be taken in a codex ig army list

    troops:
    command squads-
*same as before about the carapace armor, it's a waste of points
*demo charges i believe can only be taken in special weapon squads
*same as before about leadership, unless you plan on using drop troop doctrine and use this as a suicide squad, even then it'd probably be more useful going mass meltagun instead and use against tanks

    infantry squads-
*all your preference on what you take in them, but i'd suggest making sure at least a special and a heavy weapon in each squad.
    * i'd say keep choices to: grenade launcher, plasma gun, autocannon, heavy bolter, missile launcher, or lascannon

    heavy support:
    leman russ-
*i'd say keep your hull and sponsons all heavy bolters, more effective against spread units and light/medium infantry.
*shouldn't really need rough terrain mod, 1/6 chance to immobilize, but you should spend your turns much as possible staying still with this and blasting that cannon with minimum to the scatter.

lastly, you made no mention on what types of doctrines you are taking, you should look in the back of your codex, they have plenty of choices that help tailor your army to what type of combat style you might like to gear towards.

can't really make suggestions on what to spend, but i'm sure if you follow what i said about you'll probably have points enough to spare to add in another leman russ, or maybe just a basilisk, if nothing else, add in more infantry squads, can never go wrong with that.

...A blog that's mostly about Infinity, but sometimes other stuff too.

Okay, first, my HQ and platoon command are more sort of sort of there for elite than leadership. For insatance, they will be there to flank, and or engage with other elite squads.

My stormies are there for the same thing, although i'm not sure whether Ill use deep strike or infiltrater or not.

Ratling- a small squad to annoy the hell out of the enemy, I might get 5 more, i'm not sure.

Deathworld snipers-in my deathworld army codex, it doesn't say they can ONLY be used with deathworld armies. I like them alot, they are pretty cool and pretty specialized (getting to re-roll when failing to wound! WOOT!)

Leman Russ-I made this so it would be extremly versital, and has the power to take out anything it comes up against. For infantry it has the heavy bolters, and for heavier, eliter things it has the lascannon. The rough terrain mod is there because a) its only 5pts, and b) you never know when you need it. It's like a condom, you'de rather have one and not need it than not have one and need it.

I'll think about which doctrines to use, and I could use suggestions there.

Anyways, where should I spend the extra points?

actually it does say they can only be used in Jungle fighting rules situations and I think you have to have the jungle fighter doctrine too.

We had a thread running around here on this subject (ie how are deathworld units codex legal) about 2 months ago or so.

drop the carapace armor from your JO its not worth the 20 points to get the 4+ save.

You can't give an HQ squad model Demo charges. Only Schaffer's last chancers or 1 member of the Spec weapons squad can take demo charges

Drop the meltas unless you have some way to deepstrike but even then meltas are best in suicide squads. Line squads don't/shouldn't get that close to armor. It quite hazardous to their health.

It's only a quarter of that, he's buying it from the armoury not the doctrine otherwise the entire army would have to have it. That being said I still agree with you, drop the Carapace.

Before we go any further into this, what's your experiance like with the Guard?

    Minimal.

Okay, I looked in my Catachan Codex, and I am allowed to use snipers. I'll add those back in their.

    I'll drop the carprice armour.

I'll tell you guys what doctrines I picked.

But later. Right now I have to go to school.
