What do you think about carapace armour?

Should it be mandatory for all units, how come a 6-man heavy weapons squad pays the same price as 10 infantry, or 5 in a command squad?

Also, how do you people model carapace armour? (assuming it is on cadians?)

One thing one could do is to take the Alternate Regimental Organisation - Grenadiers, Skills and Drills - Veterans and Special Equipment - Carapace Armour. This would allow you to take..."Hardened Veteran Storm Troopers"!!! They cost virtually the same points as standard Storm Troopers and have the same stat line. Moreover, they can take THREE special weapons AND a heavy weapon. Furthermore, you can have standard Storm Troopers as Troops choices and "Hardened Veteran Storm Troopers" as Elites.

I'm thinking of trying it. Using the inquisitorial (standard) Storm Trooper miniatures for the “Hardened Veteran Storm Troopers and the Kasrkins as the Grenadiers. What does everyone think? Cool, huh?

One problem is that they'd be outnumbered most of the time though...I think... <_<

Another advantage they have is that they get Infiltrators for free. Lastly, you can also take the Alternate Regimental Organisation - Drop Troops to get free Deep Strike for the "Hardened Veteran Storm Troopers" as they count as Guard Infantry.

for mine i used green stuff and bulked out their armor platings. all you hafta do is take a look at the kasrkin model (use the one in the codex if u don't have one. that's what i did) and then you just make shoulderpads and kneepads and all the other extra armor on the kasrkins. don't forget the gloves though. they make a nice touch.

Well I am making a fluffy army based on a regiment from a planet lost to the Nids. So I have been spending way too much cash on buying a gaunt for every guard and chopping the guts out of the gaunt shells and strapping it to their backs. Makes good carapace armor and fills the Xeno-Fighters area.
I put the Laughter back into Slaughter.
