during a recent trip to a local games workshop I took my 1500 marine army down to have a few games. my first game was against a necron playerwhom was hordy. i.e too many necron warriors for my liking but no monolith which was nice. I had my 12 man command sqaud (yes it is possible:10 men, a leader and an attached character) infiltrate next to them and chraged them first turn. He decided to send his entire army against me and i ended up slaughtering them all. yes all which was 12 against at least 50 models if not more. I was wondering if any other person has done anything similar
I do not understand how you could charge somebody in turn 1 with SM on foot?infiltrate next to them and chraged them first turn.
Because infilrate allows you be over 12 unseen or over 18 seen.
I hate necrons(hehehe)
he had the first turn and moved 6 towards me who has 12 unseen. I then moved 6 and charged 6. Simple
I'd just like to ask one question. How did you manage to keep 12 models out of line of sight in order to get that first turn charge? was it a cityfight or just a board with a lot of terrain?
edit: ah I see, that was quite silly of him wasn't it?

"You challenge me knowing that I am Xiahou Dun!?"
lots of terarain. the command costs 500 alone but if it is capable of destroying whole armies on even bad dice roles then it must be a good idea
what is the squad? can you write a list?
Thanks for clearing that up for me. I thought you went first(lol).
Anyway most necrons either stand there and shoot you or move the palanax forward toward you . Which he was doing to you. He shoots you then in your turn you charge then and if anybody is left and standing in his squad necron player does wbb and he uses viel to get out of cc and then shoot everybody at you at close range can be nasty but it did not work for him.
First, congrats! I hate necrons as much as any other power armored player out there but I want to take a moment to warn you against this uber squad you tout. It is beefy, it is strong but it dies like any other marine squad.
Hmm. It looks like two things happened for the necron player.
1) he really needs a pair of lords with resorb to tie that HQ down, or a veil to hop those 'crons out. If he had a lord with resorb not in combat but just out to keep those crons coming back from power weapons, you would have been in big trouble. Same if he decided to veil of darkness out of there leaving your HQ dangling in rapid fire range.
I only mention this because those wargear pieces are so incredibly common among necrons that a cron army with them would and should never have a problem being ground up by big tough units.
2) he wasn't a good tactician, he should have backed his entire army out of the way so when your ubersquad comes out of combat to rapid fire them.
3) to get the 12'' away from an army means that there must have been a big piece of terrain in between you and the necrons. Meaning you would have had to get 2x 6's on move and on charge doable but rare and unlikely. It is impossible to infiltrate out of line of sight and be guaranteed a first turn charge wihout movement augmentation(jumppacks and the like). GW designed it that way so first turn charges are rare and based on luck or certain wargear.
Again, I'm not trying to diminish your victory. Just warn you that 500 points in one HQ choice will in most cases hand VPs to the oponent. Be aware of this in the future.
W/D/L Eleventy trillion billion/NONE/ NONE - I am STILL rulezor!
WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
Yeah, not to go bad with your victory, but the necron player was kind of dumb. He shouldn't have moved towards you. Necrons suck donkey in CC and going right towards your command squad would just be stupid. Normally, he would move away, force you to come out into the open, and shoot the crap out of you.
But meh, I hate toasters so good job.
Reflex: here's the list
Master w/ Single Lightning Claw, Combi-Melta gun, Krak Grenades, Teleport Homer + a Command Squad 1 x Veteran Sergeant w/T Honours, Chainsword ,Storm Bolter ,Auspex ,Krak Grenades
4 x Marines w/ Bolters
1 x Marine w/ Melta Gun
1 x Marine w/ Plasma Gun
1 x Standard Bearer w/ Company Standard
1 x Apothecary w/ Narthecium/Reductor
1 x Champion w/ Power Weapon, Combat Shield, Bolt Pistol
1 x Reclusiarch w/ Crozius Arcanum, Rosarius
All Can Infiltrate @ 3 pts each
he moved in a phalanx. the lord had a resurection orb and a phylactery. I had to kill him twice over just to be rid of him for good. think the lightning claw got over heated. but lord didn't have the veil.
the crons didn't have a bad tactician. the first two squads i went for were the immortals and a warrior sqaud then he decided when the lord and his gang of thugs failed to defeat me he sent the rest in to try and over run me. as i had a chaplain in there the whole squad was fearless. unforuantely i decided to cleave through the rest of his army as well as the intital squads.
