    Armoured Crew Compartment for Basilisk

How do you get an armoured crew compartment for your basilisk? Do they come with it, or do you have to design your own? Are they effective in the field of battle?

You would have to sculpt it, as it doesn't come with the box.
But that doesn't matter as it's a waste of points.

--> a basilisk should always use its option to fire indirectly (only 12 armour)
--> so you'd put him outside line of sight
--> as it shouldn't be seen, it won't be shot at so extra armour is useless.

and even if shot at, extra armour barly saves it from being blown up.

I was planning on using it indirectly, but I thought it might be good to just play it safe. I guess it is a waste of points. Thanks for the advice, although anymore from anyone on anything having to do with the Basilisk would be greatly appreciated. Mostly stuff that you wouldn't know off the bat, not obvious things, but things that might take a couple games with one to figure out.

You can get one from forgeworld if you want (link - its the 8th item down). Expensive, but the model is quite cool.

I'm not sure.. I think it actually depends on the size of the battlefield.

Many battlefields are so small that an indirect firing basilisk will only fire once or twice, then be useless for the rest of the game. AV12 isn't brilliant, but it's equal to say, a dreadnought.

There may be times when you'll want to field a basilisk in the open, just using it as a cheap, disposable ordinance tank. However, in this case I wouldn't bother with armoured crew comparments anyway.. leave it out, and take 2 or 3 to maximize firepower and reduce the chance of them all getting mauled on turn 1.

Yes, I wouldn't put on myslelf (other than for coolness factor), certainly not worth the points IMO.

there isn't a basilisk tactic which wouldn't be obvious, really. just remember that you can also fire directly, so the bassie is not useless if an opponent is within (was it?) 36" .
    but besides ...
