What do you guys think are the MUST haves of an army that wants to be competitive (to win) and balanced (no army of Happy Chappies )
He is BetaMax, an obsolete format.
I think you're oversimplifying things.
I know that 20 people will come behind me and all say that Chaosbrynn's favorite units (Chappy-led Assault Squad, LST, 4-ML Devs) are a must. However....
I think the real answer is that every unit can be efficient and capable if it is used in it's proper role with respect to it's inherent strengths and it's relationship to other units in the list. You need to consider a complete list to really determine if an army is balanced.
Any army that is well balanced will be competitive, so that's redundant, I think.
Hehe that aside Im just curious as to what people will post.
Blato the Happy Chappy with lots of Choppy Jumpy guys
He is BetaMax, an obsolete format.
Well, I'd be surprised if anyone actually suggested a Tactical Squad....
I think the most important thing is to pick squads and models that support what traits you use.
Seems like there isn't always a lot of thought put into what compliments one set of traits won't compliment another.
Like for example, See But Don't Be Seen along with the tried and true Dev squad with MLs, man. That's a no-brainer. A match made in heaven.
LSTs are good in just about any list, as are the chaplain/ assault squad thing.
We all carry on,
When our brothers in arms are gone.
So raise your glass high
For tomorrow we die,
And return from the ashes you call.
I always like the No Respite, No Remorse and Take the Fight to Them combo. Can out fit your tac squads like an assault. Put them in a drop pod and rain fire and brimstone down on the enemy.
May your aim be true, and your targets plentiful.
a big pile of tactical marines, a good HQ, assault cannons and squad lascannons,
Take life seriously, its lethal.
IMO a Death Company lead by a chaplain and Sanguiniary High Priest (this would be fine even without the Priest). This squad is AMAZING. It's only downside is it will have to get in CC, which it wont have a problem doing, Jumpacks, Feel no Pain, Red thirst. This squad is great because, they almost always get charge (red thirst, and jump packs), Furious charge, Lianies of Hate, feel no pain, ignore first failed save, a DC gets 4 attacks on charge, can take out any enemy (powerfists and power weapons), fearless, leadership 10, and there must be something else im forgetting : ).
It depends on what army you have. There are different choices for different Sm armies. To be competitive for a SM army i would say infil dev with 4 rkts. tac squads with rhinos/razorbacks because if your devs do their job they will take out their armor before they will get yours.
If your playing wolves you could drop them or walk them. there is nothing like Blood Claws getting a charge if only they had a higher ws. You can have your Grey Hunters support them.
for BA i would go with a Chappy and then have them with DC get squads of 7 because usually 1 will go down so then you arent spending to many point and if you do lose one to the DC and then you take a casuality it wont be as bad as only haveing 4 mariens and then having 3 left.
Basically it depends on what style you have. If you like Mech there are tons of comp mech or if you pod or walk its your style. So if you give us a style we could tell you/help you.
The post was about squds and effectiveness, not how to fit ur squads for DC, besides i think all BA players know that  .
