So we have new rules for citifight, time for army building :-) What do you plan to use in battles on this terrain heavy battlefield?
My favorites are infiltrating sniper scouts, whirlwinds, AC dreadnought + Heavy flamers, Tornados with AC+HB and HF+MM....and maybe some terminators with AC for street walking.
Lots of mobility will be needed, but just dont know if assaulting into terrain would be good idea or shooty mobile army would be better.
Well, idea of two whirlwinds firing on unit taking cover in building, then moving HF tornado to flame it and finished with two AC tornados fire and maybe some HB assault bikes.... this should devastate any unit in cover, just because number of saves needed...and all this vulnerable units are hidden from rest of opponents army by other buildings...cool :-)
Combined assault from Chaplain+jump squad and Librarian on bike and bike squad could be also good, but I have fear of dangerous terrain tests, and combat starting on Inic 10 is also not ideal.
What do you think about COD fighting? What army do you plan to use?
well i am planning to infiltrate my entire amry. there is just one thing:
the infiltrate strategem does it allow only one unit to infiltrate or all your units? (my store hasn't got the book yet )
otherwise i am planning to inflitrate my devies with either ML (for the blast markers) or heavy bolters for the shots and drop as lot of my infiltrate so we can get multimelta and flamer amed tornado's...:shifty:

If I recall correctly, you may infiltrate all units which may always (regardless of mission) infiltrate without a stragem. For those units which may only infiltrate if the mission rules allow it, the strategem allows -one- unit to infiltrate.
You play your game, I'll play mine.
It allows all units with the infiltrate special rule to use it.Originally Posted by elfwarden
My favourites have to be Bikers with 2 Flamers, covering 4 SM in cover makes you twice as good as a Meltagun. I'm a DA player, and the extra points are almost worth it in CoD.
With lots of cover, a second turn flame and charge is near guaranteed.
LST's have done good things for me. There is so much cover they can easily pick on a single unit and avoid retaliation. Although that unit will probably have a 4+ cover save 11 wounds tend to hurt tham and v's SM, the cover only helps v's rending so you only lose a single kill from 3 LST's on average.
Not sure about the MM, HF LST. Its expensive, but a flying Heavy flamer is nice. My Bikers are sometimes thwarted by second story buildings.

But wouldn't the preponderance of difficult terrain make bikes (and vehicles) likely to self-destruct? Of course, if you play on a board that has buildings but not a lot of rubble choking the streets, it wouldn't be a big problem.
Chief Inspector Dreyfus: Are you wounded?
Clouseau: No. Fortunately I was saved by the darkness.
Chief Inspector Dreyfus: So what we need is more light.
Assault squads for assaults and lots of bolters for the mobile firepower. A good solid HQ with a squad and a LR for those bigger games where you want assault potential.

Not neccesarily. I play with Ravenwing and gain skilled riders so my Bikes are OK through cover. Plus LST's cannot be imobilised by terrain and Whirlwinds don't need to move.Originally Posted by Bellum_Gerreo
Howver LR's are overpriced and taking one in CoD is probably no better thanusual, esp as your opponent can take Tank Traps as a Stratagem.

I'm using Infiltrate, true grit, and counter attack for my traits, Infiltrators, Plunging fire, and Fortified building for most of my stragetems. Already played 4 games, I actually got my book before the local GW did.
Strangely enough, I'm not changing my list at all. It seems to me that my current list is actually made even more deadly in a cityfight. I'm still trying to find a few suitable stratagems though.
As an assault army a good number of the shooting stratagems are next to useless, so I was thinking of using combat engineers combined with a preliminary bombardment. Soften up the enemies and then rush 'em with bloodclaws.

Well I might try out a blood claw swarm aswell but my drop pod assult should still be effective, especially since dropping into cover should be easy.
