is it possible for a marine to fire out the top of a rhino while smoke has been launched? the codex says that rhino launches smoke instead of shooting, but does that include the sqaud inside as well as part of the rhino? i thought the squad would have been separate from the rhino so they could fire.
the reason why i'm asking is because i was going to use this idea to go tank hunting.
Black Templars 3000 points
Tau Empire 1750 points
Tyranids 1500 points
Hordes of Chaos *Coming soon*
Even if the infantry can fire (which I have no idea about) if the Rhino moves then the infantry inside can not fire any heavy weapons. So if you want to go tank hunting it's going to be sitting still. At which point why get a Dev squad and place it in cover?
More heavy weapons and no chance of the Rhino getting blown up and entrapping your guys for a round. Plus AV11 isn't exactly impervious.
May your aim be true, and your targets plentiful.
Instaed of heavy weapons he could use meltaguns. But I would have to say no, the marines inside cannot shoot if you pop smoke. My interpretation of the rules is squads in rhinos are like IC joining a squad, they count as one unit and all follow the same rules while together, so if the rhino pops smoke than the nothing can shoot. Like Escaflowne said there are better options for tank hunting such as infiltrating units w/meltaguns, they're cheaper and have a better chance of survival, also a predator annihilator with extra armor, would work better.
