Ok, more newbie questions. You've been warned.
1. When a Dred is deployed via Drop Pod in addition to the 'Flesh Over Steel' major disadvantage trait does the Dred become a Fast Attack? Is it an Elite still that in addition uses a FA slot? Or, does this rule which forces Transports to become a FA only apply to the Rhino/Razor?
2. If the Dred becomes a FA then what happens if you combine it with 'Heed the Wisdom of the Ancients'? Does that mean you could have 9 Dreds? I know this is probably no good in actual application, but I am just wondering if it is possible.
What I really want to do is make a CC oriented army. I'd like to include things like scouts teleporting in Termies (Can you do this? Is it viable?), Dreds, and Assault marines. Have any suggestions? The current winner is Raven Guard, the issue I have with RG is that I don't know if including Dreds would be very wise to field as they would the only units on the table worthy of AT fire and would surely be screaming, "Fire all your AT weapons at me!"
Wow, that's a lot of questions, sorry if you made it this far. Answer a question and win a prize!
1. You count as using a fast attack and elites choice if you drop pod a dred because its being fielded ina transport.
2. You won't be able to field nine dreds, not even space wolves are capable of fielding that many and they are the only ones who can come close at seven...

Thanks for the speedy reply! That's odd because all the RG fluff speaks of using lots of drop pods and all the fast attack options, which wouldn't be possible to field.
I don't think anyone outside a tournament would penalise you if you made your own Chapter Traits for White Scars or Raven Guard and utterly ignored the ones your supposed to use.
Raven Guard are actually supposed to make surgical strikes via Drop Pods, ironically that’s now impossible for them.
Using different traits would mean no Shrike, however.Originally Posted by Scarlet Nebula
Well the way I see it, the current traits are for Shrike's Company not the Raven Guard as a whole.Originally Posted by xikankai
Ahh, That does make a lot of sense! So, what do you guys think would be a good SM army for me then? As I mentioned earlier in my opening post:Thanks.Originally Posted by xikankai
I advise you make your own Chapter that can start out as dedicated followers of the Codex Astartes and change its traits over time as you find units you like/dislike using.
The army you've suggested doesn't sound too unusual and could be represented by most Chapters.
I was unaware that a drop pod counted as a fast attack choice. When did this occur, and where can I find the rules that state it? I was under the impression that they were a trasnport option, hence taking up no space on the FOC.
Cheers in advance
with the trait 'flesh over steel' all transports, including drop-pods, count as fast attack hoises in your FOC. So if you take this trait your drop pods count as FA, otherwise they're just transports in the same FOC slot as the squad it's for.
