i'm hoping to add some grey knights to my space marines. are grey knight termonators worth the cost. i mean, str 6 power weapons are kool, but is it really worth spending 200+ points on?
That is not dead which may eternal lie,
for in strange aeons even death may die.
I tend to use them in squads of 5 with a Psycannon, Its one mean squad. Mostly used for heavy and elite hunting as knights in large squads with no supporting weapon for troops.
i strongly think so. you have to take into account all the other bonuses they get for being "grey knights", like fearless-ness, the shrowding, protection against psychic powers, and some other benefits against daemons of course, all for only 6 more points than a basic sm termie. although the manditory 61 pt brother captain can seem overpriced, a powerfisted veteran power armor sgt costs 45. and the brother captain already has access to the daemonhunters armory. they always make their points back for me, yesterday, i took out a 880pt seer counsil with 5 GKT. id say theyre worth it.

They definitely are worth it, but you can't rely on them as your main unit. I suggest only using small numbers of them, with a squad size based on the total army list's size. For a list of 1500pts, I'd say a Brother Captain and 3-4 GKT is plenty. A Grand Master can be swapped in when you hit 2000pts. In games above that, you can add another GKT or two to the unit. A lot of people tend to go for the GM too soon, or take GKT squads of 6+ before they even hit 2000pts - thats where the problems come from. GKT are a great tool, but not the core of any army.
The Hero is a big point of argument. You should, in my experience, take a Brother Captain in most situations - he may be little more than a more expensive GKT, but a Grand Master is far too expensive for most situations. With a BroCap, I suggest giving him no weapons or wargear beyond what he comes with, except for Sacred Incense if you're facing Chaos. As I said, he has similar stats to other GKT - including the one wound. Loading him up is a waste - even if you're giving him protective gear. For a GM, I suggest either a psycannon or an Icon of the Just, along with Sacred Incense if you're facing Chaos. Again, don't overload - sure he's an extremely powerful model, but he already costs about as much as three normal GKT. The DH armoury lacks any items that prevent instakill - your GM, even with a full bodyguard, can fall to a single well-rolled high-Str weapon. An Icon helps with this, but there's really no way to make him totally safe.
For special weapons, I suggest 0-1 Psycannon and no Incinerators - the permanent 36" range on a GKT carrying a Psycannon is definitely useful. GKT usually end up Deepstriking, and an Incinerator isn't going to be effective in that situation unless you manage to land very close to the enemy, which is a huge risk. I'd put the Psycannon into the squad itself first, since the Hero can be picked off first - except when using a GM, who has a higher BS!
I also suggest 1 Thunderhammer/SS combo per 4 or 5 GKT you have. They're very handy for the random unexpected Dreadnought or Monsterous Creature - S6 can handle most situations, but a few S8 attacks can save your expensive melee unit if they get stuck in a bad situation.
They are way better than normal Termis as I have experiance playing Grey Knights but yes.
A sqaud of 4-6 Termies being led by a Grandmaster is able to rip the beating heart out of most armies.
The special weapon depends on you for a close qauter fight with cover a Incinerator is better but if you are deap striking a psy cannon is better as you have a higher chance of taking out a tank on rear armour.
Grey knight termies are sick, sick i tell you, they are so worth their points, equip them with psycannons. Your termies rip other trermies to shreds, yours are better in fighting, so what if you cant get an assault cannon. Grey knight termes are arguably the best terminators ever made and the best units i the daemonhunters army, they are sick, SICK!
The gold grey knight man. These are hardy men who like cheese.
Ever thought of how cheese was found?:
`` I say sah, the milk in this barrel smells foul!``
``Oooohhh, give it a go!``
''Quack, damn you!''

Better than assualt terminators any day! If you dont already have a force weapon you can use a grandmaster ( HQ Choice ) to ram them into big things, be careful though
GK termies are indeed a good addition to an army, however keep in mind that your oponent will think so to and those termies will draw whole bunches of low ap fire. If you take them get them into CC quick...every turn GK's spend walking and shooting is points lost for you.
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
True true, they draw tons of fire, si the more you have the merrier! thats why my DH friend uses 18 Grey knight termies plus a GrandmasterOriginally Posted by Undead Bonzi

Be careful, and consider what kind of opponents you are up against. Against any kind of eldar ect., no kind of terminators are worth it as we just have too many ways of dealing with them.. if your opponent isnt a rock who thinks that 880 point seer councils are cool that is. Be especially careful about dark eldar, as they have access to staggering amounts of dark lances, high S, I & WS power weapons and wyches.
