Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey folks. I just started playing against a friend whose big into 'Nids. I use Imperial Fists. I've won the last two games, the first thru some lucky dice, the second because he went all genestealers and I brought lots of heavy bolters > I have a feeling his next army is going to be mostly Monstrous, and its going to be a 1500pt game. I'm pretty torn about how to approach it, any tips from you guys who've had some success would be great.
I was thinking about stacking up with Plasma and Lascannons, and just because its kinda done alot probably not using the 3 x 8 Dev w/Missle launchers. Plus I imagine he'll have extended carapace on most of his big boys. Looking forward to comments.
Godzilla lists are typicaly quite slow as the fex's etc move only 6". Dreadnoughts are good at taking down combat fexes and terminators arnt a bad option. If your going to get into combat then powerfists are a must, but with enough shooting you should be able to soften them up for your dreads to walk in and finnish them off.
The man of tomorrow is judged by his battle today.
Also if your using your Dread to take out Fexs make sure you kill it before it hits back. Just saying cause most of the time people give them an extra wound meaning 5 you gotta take out.
If he's playing a lot of monstrous creatures might as well go Plasma cannon. With the exception of a buffed up fex it'll wound 3 up or better against everything and ignore armor saves. Plus you can turn it on his little guys in a pinch and take'm out.
Since your running Imperial Fists use the assult cannons to full effect, rending is sweet, or you can blast genestealers and warriors.
I love killing my buddies nids, but then again Space Wolves are about the worst army he can face.
When I faced my friends' carnifex, my terminators took out both carnifexs with only 3 losses.
Yea I was thinking of some Termies. I had a 5 man team in the first matchup that did some serious hurt to a pack of genestealers before getting charged by "Old One Eye". They managed to kill him losing only 2 guys before getting run over by another pack of stealers. I'll see if I can work some in. Plus a 5+ save vs. even monstrous creatures is nothing to sneeze at. Plus being able to move and hit with at least 2 shots at 24" is really nice for working on other things.
ok you guys are Planning this around a all CC fex list. . . not a Real Godzilla list
a Real Godzilla list is deadly
a winged hive tyrant moving fast up your ass. two maybe at most cheap Carni's for CC the rest are shooting you with two large Blast templates at High Strength(double your toughness) and with a low AP too and thats one fex. and he could have 6 like that, plus the venom cannon wich rips you a new one. and then maybe some rippers if he wants all big boys like I would do. the only thing you can really do is hope
Take a Chappy with a fist and Jumppack attach him to an assualt Squad with a Segent with a fist and go use the Chappy for a Teleport homer and warp in a Squad of Shooty Termies tow assualt cannons and then charge. . . all you can do. . . trust me look into a Godzilla list its truly terrifiing
i'd attempt a librarian with a jump pack and get vortex of doom, they need to roll under their initiative or get sucked into the warp with no saves allowed!!. it is a bit risky, but if your rolls have half decent luck then you'd be able to suck in around a fex a turn or 2 if they're close together. works a treat with the tau
Ok fellows we have a difficult task, so we have to be more deadly than everyday.
Make mistakes and confuse the enemy - The Doctor
Tactics are nice but it is violence that wins the day.
The vortex would do great against a carnifex because they can get a max I of 2.
Don´t mess with the dicegod
1 single carnifex is a piece of cake, its looks like it can hurt you but its so sweet in vicotry.
power weapons + lascannons = dead carnifex
What's been said is good. Termies are nasty against TMC, as are high stength AP2 weapons. Assualt cannons are also nice with the large number of shots, and of course rending. A librarions is a very good idea, but make sure you kill the fex before it can strike back because of instant killing you. Concentrate on the imediate threat of the flying tyrant first, then judge what will hurt you most after taking that down. With the termies also, DSing them woild be great in a drop pod, getting nice and close the shooty fex's, so you could charge them in the next turn, negatting their strengths of shooting (i.e. shooty fex ). Although this does provide a nice target for his pie plates, but they only hit half the time (if upraded) and you get normal saves, so it's up to you. Anyways, even though i'm a nid player happy hunting.
