What does more damage for 200 points?

So I was wondering, what does more damage for 200 points?

    1. Venerable Dreadnought, TLLC & ML, Extra Armour, Tank Hunters in Drop Pod?

    2. 8 Man Dev Squad with 4 ML?

Would be interesting to see your views

I'd say 8 man devastator squad w/ ML...
    ...
although a dreadnaught is a spiffy package, but to an opponent it has a huge target on its head, and it can be taken out in one shot...and like that it is no more....
The squad on the other hand, looks less deadly to an opponent, and will take some time to wipe out ....
which in the long run gives you more time to do more damge..

Agree 8 man dev squad. Much more reliable and survivable.
Having said that I like to keep heavy support slots for predators and vindicators, but thats normaly as cheap backup for 4-5 10 man Tac Squads...

Depending on the situations that you put the two into.

But I think in most games your dev squad will have the best chance of scoring its points back sit back and pound, use the long range to keep them out of most trouble and they will do fine.
The problem is, they aren't very mobile and if your oponent out maneuvers you the dread would have been the way to go.

    Devastators.

You have 4 wounds to suffer before you lose a missile launcher but a dreadnaught can be killed in one shot.

4x missile launchers will do more damage than 1x Missile launcher and 1x TL Lascannon at BS4.

Also, rarely used, 4x frag grenades does wonders on tightly packed light units. A lascannon has a good chance of killing a hormaguant but what about the other 19?

I love dreads and all but the prospect of unleashing 4 strength 8 ap 3 shots a turn is simply too good to pass up. Plus the extended squad size will ensure sruviability against most shots (unless you're playing eldar reapers, eeeewwww:x)

I would take the missile devs for sheer firepower and survivability. If you are gonna drop a dread, take the assault cannon and DCCW with heavy flamer. Much more close in firepower, and you will probably need the assault power if you dropping in close.

OK, so to extend the discussion...

Would you take 2 Dev Squads or would you Drop Pod a Dread and have 1 Dev Squad. I think 2 x 4ML Dev Squads could be awesome!

As I hate ML Devs I would have to say go with the Dreadnought. A Lascannon and TL Railgun at the side/rear armour usualy sorts your opponents vehicles out and Podding is safe.

Add the fact that you can get LoS to those annoying JsJing Crisis suits, penetrate the av14 you're up agains't and generaly have mobility the Dread is a cool asset. Its not my favourite drp-Dread but it's a decent unit.
