Does anyone know when the prometheus LR varient was discovered?
Does anyone use them?

The origins of the Land Raider Prometheus are a mystery. It is believed to be based on the 'Tarterus' variant (what ever that was as i dont have any information on it). It is also believed to have been developed by the Salamanders as they are able to field apparently more than any other chapter and they apparently only have four. However I can reveal that my own chapter the Knights Magniloquent can field 6 one for each battle company one for the chapter commander and they have one in reserve. I use one occasionaly in larger battles most recently in the Defence of Easter Moy v Tyranids in which my company command squad deployed . This was a large (2500 pts +) battle and nothing short of TMC's could live in front of it because the quad twin linked heavy bolters destroy most units in front of them. The Prometheus is not a vehicle for every battle but makes a nice change, occasionally if the battle is big enough to warrant the points cost. I think it did make its cost back in the last battle but even if it didnt all those shots and rerolls to hit make the enemy wish they hadnt come today.
It needs proper support as it has no high AP weaponry so I tool my cmd squad for ccbt and deplot a Razorback with twin linked lascannon and a five man marine squad with either a plasma cannon or lascannon in support. The Prometheus is great fun purely from the ammount of fire they can lay down and as they can attract a lot of fire in return then they can protect other more vulnerable units. Hope this has shed some light on one of my favorite vehicles
Where do I find the rules for this thing?

The rules for the Land Raider Prometheus are found in Imperial Armour 2 from Forge World
I ordered a Prometheus last week and it should be coming in soon! :w00t:
I wanted something different with some flair for my Commander and his
Honor guard. I play-tested the rules and liked the out come!
Yes - it is indeed a really good addition to the quite worthless LRs. The inproved comms and 4 twin-linked heavy bolters really comes to great use when teleporting or deepstriking is baced on a plan or you are engaging heavy ranks with light to medium infantry.
There's no better anti-infatry vehicle in the SM's arsenal than the Prometheus
