I am going to be upgrading a couple ISTs to vets for TP homers, do you guys think it is worth while giving them bolters as well, or do you guys have set ups that you would suggest?
Can't really go wrong for one point a bolter..
Though unnumbered lurking perils await us, our blades will ever be ready.
FOR WE ARE THE EMPEROR'S VENGEANCE!
I actually modded one with a Power Fist, not that I recommend it, nothing is really worth it for a Vet, except a Teleport Homer.
Deamonhunter IST Vets are in sore need of some sort of Leadership modifier upgrade, like the Sisters Book of St. Liucious, or something that would let you re-roll failed LD tests.

Well, TP Homers are the tried and true use for Vets. And yes, I'd give them the 1pt bolter - it can be handy when you least expect it. For that particular use, though, I wouldn't bother with more gear or weapons.
You could give a powerfist or thunderhammer to a Vet in an armor-hunting unit, but that's really an overly expensive backup to that unit's meltaguns. A combi-melta and/or meltabombs is probably a safer and cheaper bet, really.
Plasma pistol or combi-plasma for a unit with two plasma guns is also handy - same reasons as above, that you're just adding more similar firepower to that unit's abilities. Beware, though, since plasma can result in you losing your Vet (bad if he's carrying a Homer too).
Really, though, I think the only reason to bother paying for that Vet is the TP Homer. Toss meltabombs or a plasma pistol onto him as well if it matches with that unit's weapons & objectives, but don't buy them specifically to carry weapons.
Yea I know that the only point of upgrading to vet is to grab the TPH but I was looking at my Kasrkin model yesterday and figured that an hours work could get me S4 shots and cost next to nothing each. I'll have to put melta bombs on too now that you mention it, thanks.
