To all IG commanders,
Do any of you have some tactics that have worked well against drop pods? I have a game against Deathwing this coming weekend and am anticipating him to use drop pods like I've seen him do. This is for a challenge league and I get to choose the mission.
I've talked to a few friends and we've come to think that a mostly drop troops army might do reasonbly well against drop pods. My thoughts were to choose table quarters mission, which would give me a slight advantage in that I have many more scoring units than he would. If I could hold his own table quarter, it might pay off in the end.
What do you think?

Unless you really know how to do and have an army oriented towards it, drop troops is excessively complicated and very ineffective. You have better odds if your army is on the table waiting for him with plasmas and lascannons and you weather the initial volley. All drop troops will do is leave you scattered and unable to form an effective defense.
You're gonna have the first turn to find good cover and establish good fields of fire; take advantage of it.
