Dreadnought Heavy Army List for Iron Hands Successor Chapter

    Hi,

I'm relatively new to all this but like the look of the Iron Hands SM army, I've drawn up a 1500pt list and want opinions please.

I've not gone for full IH traits as i want them to differ from the IH as a successor chapter and have chosen Heed the Wisdom of Ancients and the drawback We Stand Alone

If my maths is correct this comes to 1492pts

marines, marines, marines...oh yeah, include some more MARINES!

Sry. The biggest misstep of beginners is minimizing marines, they are the ones who win games and carry the weight of the rest of your army. Without them to support the rest of your force the game will be brief and one sided *garauntee*. Dreadnoughts aren't bad, but it's a poor idea to base an entire army around them as they tend to be easy targets. Venerables have their advantages, but are too expensive to be used en-masse. Too many landspeeders as well. Never use something with 10 armor in large numbers, they die too easily to infantry weapons even if they are fast skimmers.

My advice if you really want a dread army:
Drop the flamers from the tac squads (useless), maybe replace with plasma guns or just leave blank.
Up your marine squads numerically and include two more.
40 marines gives you a nice flexible backbone to expand on.
Drop one or two venerable dreads for a regular one, they're too expensive to have three, and might I suggest drop pods (and I think you got the point cost wrong on this list)
You can probably lose all of the landspeeders and not be hurting, but keeping 1 or 2 isn't bad.

Have you read the famous flamer tactica by Choasbrynn??? klick! You should neither use Flamers nor Bolter-Flamers, cause most enemies will charge you before you can use them.
You should not mix up assault weapons and heavy weapons in one Squad. One purpose - one squad! If you wanna use these Squads for assault think about a Powerfist and only use assault weapons (e.g. Melter)

Again I would drop the Flamer.

Either CC or Shooting - it makes your squads more efficient!

Think about the special abbilities for your Venerable Dreads. They are very useful!

Good choice! If you use them the right way.

    Indeed veeery many Cybots.
Against mass armies this will be a problem. Imagine 20 Nids jumping onto a Cybot, one will hit him unluckily and he will fall.
What's the Fluff for these guys??? You need many dead heroes and empty Cybots to realize them.

IMO drop the plasmacannons and purchase rocketlauncers or lascannons instead. only 2 LCs on vehicles won't give you much as a clever player with tanks will shoot at your dreads with LCs first and their ability to enforce re-rolls is useless as the dreads become useless they can't shoot.

Sorry man, but you posted in the wrong spot. Army lists go in the army list section.
    it here.

Just doing what I do, no flames, just boxing gloves.

    EDIT: Yeah what Zartas said.

Incredible that no one has mentioned it, it is not allowed to post the cost of individual wargear and upgrades. So I think you should remove the cost befor the mods get you.

I cannot cry, I cannot care, that thing will come back no more.
