I just recently got a decent sized Black Templars army. I have been playin nids for about a year and ahalf now and am still getting used to SM. I would like some input on my current army, like important additions or alterations that need to be made. This is not an army list.
3 full squads of marines
Grimaldus and his squad
10 Assault Terminators
5 Assault Marines
1 Dreadnaught with missle launcher/TW lascannon
1 Land speeder
1 (ordered) Terminator Chaplain
1 Sword Bretheren squad
2 Veterans that I use in the Command squad
I am about to order a predator and make it all Lascannons because I feel I could use the firepower. I am unsure as to how to set up my marines. I was thinking 2 squads with bolters, and the 3rd with CC and pistol. Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

Don't forget Neophytes. Love em or hate them, they turn an alright squad, into a mob, and they are cheap.
I usually rock two full 20 man crusader squads with 10-10 neophytes/initiates. I like them to be all close combat myself, however some swear to add another 20 man of bolters. Black Templars are a very assaulty army, so I like to make sure they cash in on that. I've had one of these squads hold off a SW berserker squad (and win) a tooled up Chaos Lord and retinue, and even a bloodthirster, buying time for my Assault Terms to come in and mop up.
I personally don't use a Hellfire dreadnaught, because in such an assaulty army, I hate to lose the close combat weapon. I know though that BT lack heavy firepower, so that might not be such a bad idea. Neither is the predator. But in low point games 1500 or less, I'd just trust in at least one assault squad geared for tank busting. Melta bombs, power fist etc. Even a cheap LS with missiles works great.
But as for your idea of 2 bolter squads, and one CC one, I'd reverse that if anything. You don't want TOO many bolters, as Righteous Zeal is gonna get you moving up the field if you lose units, and BTs were made to go toe to toe in hand to hand. Capitalize on that, and don't be timid. BT crusader squads are a LOT harder than they seem, especially under the Champion's vows.

Edit: How do mixed squads work? Say having the squads have a mix up of both CC/pistols and bolters?

Double edged sword that. Sure you're gonna get some shots off before close combat, but from my own experience, I like to keep all the weapons in my squads relatively the same range. I wouldn't mix them myself. I'd take either or, but it comes down to what you really like yourself in the end. You could try both, and see how they work. I haven't had very much success with mixed bolter CCW squads myself.
