So, I was just playing around last night with the BT codex and found that I could run 3 LRC each full with 15 guys (1HQ (Helbrecht) & Command, and 2 Troops with 10 Initiates, PF & Meltagun, 5 Neophytes), and two razorbacks w/ TLLC & 5 marines with Las/plas all for about 2000 pts.
Anyone tried anything like this? Is it really dumb? There don't seem to be enough marines for my normal taste, but I don't know. Something about it seems interesting to me. I'm probably crazy though. Opinions.
it can be done but you loose ALOT of option. i mean when you shind 750+ pts ito 3 vehicles your loosing a huge chunck of your points. maby try it out in firnedly games with proxies and see how it works for you

It would look scary, but with the proliferation of AV14 pen weapons around in 4th ed 40K you are just asking for trouble. All those guys entangled  , or blown up (N) doesn't bear thinking about.

Just pray you don't run into a lascannon happy list or Tau.
You usually don't lose more than 1 raider each game (don't ask how I know that:x ) because the things usually blaze across the battle field and disgorge their contents quickly and most opponents will be too concerned/distracted/busy-being-anhialated with said contents to worry about the raider after turn 2. Even against Tau multiple raiders has proved oddly effective. Hey, it's expensive, but have that much ridiculous armor and firepower can easily work.
Blais's Paint Studio-Getting broken armies good soft scores since 2009
For an opponent who's not prepared for such onslaught it would be all over in a few turns and you'll certainly give him a scare with using 3 of those beasts.
I say.. field it once and a while, if you want an unexpected win, haha. otherwise.. either keep it for extremely big games, or for fun... or just keep it as an idea...
i wouldn't go for this as your standard list.. unless your oppenents can't afford strong guns...
This is counter productive concidering BT and SM's are my worst enemies (being a necron player) but i would like to point out, you will never beat a necron that way, everything we shoot has a chance to blow it up and we have things that work even better for doing this specificly. i dont know how every other race would deal but its a giant, huge, monsterous creature sized no-no against Crons.
In the name of god impure souls of the living dead shal be banished into eturnal damnation. Amen.
The only problem is that unless you're playing as Deathwing, you are going overboard with more than 2. Sure you're going to win a lot, but that's just power gaming; the rape of fun.
It WILL be effective. Very.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
