out of the three diffrent hq choices which would you say was the best to use in a pic up and play army
i would probably say a librarian or a chaplin because they give you some cool opertunitys for moddeling and a librarian gives you phycic and chaplian gives you cc and can boost up one of your squad so it uber assult.
Plz post bk
"Mr. Cypher please come out from underneath the table, the Dark Angels are not out to get you."
If you're strapped for pts or just want a boost for your army, get him.
He has full access to the armoury so is fairly adaptable. Only trouble is, he has nothing at first, you must spoon feed him at least 1pt for a Bolter.
But he is cheap even when fully upgraded and kitted out. He also has the ability to make everyone on the board Ld9. Ld10 if he's second-tier. Beware the Commander for that. Suddenly everybody in your force is almost unquakable.
If you want a guy who can do just about everything you want him to from word go, get a Chaplain. For 25pts above the Commander equivalent you get a fearless squad which re-rolls to hit on charging, you get the best invulnerable save in the game, and you ignore armour in close combat.
Taken from the armoury that would cost 40pts. Without the skills, and you'd only be able to have 1.
You can have 2 Chaplains.
They freely choose other gear from the armoury. They look bloody awesome. Get a Chaplain as your 1st HQ.
cost at least 100pts for a skill-less commander with a force weapon and Psychic hood. He's much less value for pts than even the Commander but is the most powerful of the three. Depemding on how you kit him out you can make anything happen with a Librarian. But he's damned expensive.
However, the ability to run up to Greater Daemons or Monsterous creatures and kill them in one hit is never to be ignored.
If you know what to give him, a Librarian can reach Initiative 7 & Strength 5 during close combat. This means he'll only even be matched by a Broodlord, and wound the thing on a 4+ then psychic test it away.

Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
just for a small pick up game I say a commander is a great choice. but it depends on the army you want to use. If you want to use assault marines use a chaplain. If it is a larger points game you could use a librarian but I still prefer a chappy.
Your question is a little mindless, best for what?
I have a shooting based nilla army (Sons of Medusa) best HQ: Commander
I have Deathwing: best HQ Commander or >1000 points libby
I have Blood angels and Flesh Tearers: best HQ Chaplain
I have Space Wolves, best HQ wolf lord or Ven Dread
See the problem?
Best Assault HQ is probably the chappy although the Libby can be tuned that way
If you aint gonna charge up there then the Commander and the libby are both excelent choices, certainly better than the Chaplain
Everything you have been told is a lie!
Commander for cheaper games and a libbie of death for games where you can spend the points. He can be kitted out for uber assault or shooting, depending on your army. The commander is a more passive character.
"Thousand Sons! Fight in the Emperor's name!"
DA :8/5/7 Eldar:3/3/5 1KSons:3/1/2
It mostly depends on what role your lewader will take. As mentioned above ^ Commander is cheap, Chapplain is very assault orientated and the librarian is probably the most versatile of the two. Although more expensive he can be great in both combat and using long range psychic powers.
Usually I go for a chaplain as he already comes with a 4+ invaunrable and a power weapon with really cool abilities.
Does he suspect one of us of heresy?
He is an inquistitor; they suspect everyone of heresy...
you forgot about the best option, TECHMARINE HQ! those guys are mean well equipped.
