OK, in a 1500 point tourney list which is better?
Deathwing Command Squad or Normal Command Squad?
Deathwing would be 4 terminators with 2AC
Normal would be 2 Special Weapons, Vet Sgt PF and maybe a company champ plus meat shields.
Which is better for a tournament? I think the Deathwing squad is the only way i could squeeze terminators into a 1500 list
Well both are good drop podding with a Librarian and FotD, personaly as they arrive via DS and can be avoided in HtH i'd go with the Temrinators, can't argue with 2 Assault Cannons and FotD instant death to any IG you come accross.
What charecter are you looking to put with them? and what else is in your planned army?
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
It depends alot on the way tou fight. Do you prefer hth combat or ranged firepower. My guess by the two squads if hth combat. THe termies are very good but with only four models they could be shot down quickly with the right weapons.
On the other hand how many meatshield do you plan to use. This squad - with the right number of men - could pack a fair amount of firepower and as they are space marines with a company champion, Vet Sgt and what ever character you use with them are very capable in an assault.
Overal both squads are very balanced but depend on what role you give them in the army.
Personally i would go for the power armour squad as terminators are best in large points games where you can take big squads of them.
Does he suspect one of us of heresy?
He is an inquistitor; they suspect everyone of heresy...
Agree with the sentiment providing the Libby has an additional power too (Might or Fury) as Fear doesn't work against all armies.Originally Posted by Silver Wings
Well I'd say go Termies but I suppose it comes down to cost and what HQ you are planning on taking and what the rest of your army is composed of really. This fairly typical set up:
Epistolary w/ Fear/Fury (or Fear/Might if using a drop pod), Stormshield;
4-Man Terminator Command Squad, 2 Assault Cannons, optional Bolter-Flamer on the sarge, all Stubborn, Furious Charge, (optional Drop Pod)
will cost 400 to 440 ish points- that's a large chunk of your 1500! (up to 34%) but will be effective. It's by far the cheapest way to get termies into your list as you can use just 4 men in a CS as opposed to the standard 5. And you get assault cannons too (need I say more).
But you must have a plan for them and gear the rest of your army to support them: Landspeeder Tornados to soften potential landing zone units and TLLC/ML dreads or suitably-kitted out Dev squads for long range support. Did I say Infiltrating scouts with vet sarge and teleport homer?
It's really more than just 'bolting in' a command squad- more about the whole set up of your army.
BTW I'm termie-biased. No doubt others will advise against this route.
OK just to clarify the rest of the army:
The HQ will be a librarian (see earlier codicier/epistolary question)
Rest of 1500 Point force is
2x6 Man Plas/Plas Squads
1x7 Man, 4ML Dev Squad
1x7 Man, 4HB Dev Squad
2x 8 Man Vet Sgt PF & MG in Drop Pod
For part if the tournament will be combined with a 750 list of:
Ravenwing Captain on Bike
5 Ravenwing Bikes with Vet Sgt PF & 2MG
7 Scout Snipers
I want to try to play to the fluff as much as possible (shooty as hell)
The fluff for the 750 list is that the scouts have advanced ahead of the main force and have encountered a small enemy force and have called on fast moving Ravenwing Units to come and take them out.
I'm looking for a HQ around the 370-400 points mark.
The power armoured squad would have up to 5 meat shields
Thanks in advance
Hey that's a good-looking drop pod DA list there! You certainly have the fire support, so providing you have the points and bearing your ideal in mind:
"I want to try to play to the fluff as much as possible (shooty as hell)"
go for termies
I have the points if I go for a codicier and put the teleport homers in the 750 list (going to use epic Rhinos as the models!)
Happy podding and choose his power carefully.Originally Posted by Brother-Librarian Franksi
Now, that's an interesting idea for the homers.
Yeah the homers are going to be like the little wheeled droids wandering round the Death Star in Star Wars (the ones Chewbacca screams at)
Gotta do deathwing for fluff value. You already have Ravenwing represented. Those terminators are really hard--they won't let you down. A good honor guard for your HQ!
