Yanno, I see some guys make lists with the intent of using Assault Terminators to Deepstrike and go offensive. But oddly enough, without any movement advantages or ranged weapons, they'll never take the fight to the enemy. The only times I've wished I had some was when the enemy was coming to me, and I could tie them up with another squad in assault to get them to hold still long enough for the Assault Termies to get there and lay down the law.
Seems to me the regular version are much better at actually assaulting since they can't be ignored as they move and shoot in the same turn. I know I could invest in a Land Raider but some saying about eggs and baskets comes to mind.
I've given my assault termie sarge a Storm bolter. That way at least he can open fire...
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
I load them up in Land Raiders and use them a diversion (well kinda like using a sledgehammer to smash a car before rolling over it with a tank) before my HQ crusader comes in. So I basically use them as a direct assault unit, and they do a great job at it. Even in games of 3,000 pts they can really ruin a battle line.
obviously you have never seen 2 assault terminators rip through 3 howling banshee squads full of 10 banshees.
'Assault'... they are meant to go forward and assault the enemy... not lag around the rear...
I sometimes use mine in a counter assault role, either letting them avenge a 50odd point attack bike or similarly cheap Scout Squad.
Furious Charge Lighting Claws are not friendly to Black templars or Khorne and the charge makes them lethal.
Similarly sitting in cover to strike first (especialy if on the bottom floor of a firebase building with acouple of Dev Squads) can be good, mine have mauled loads of things as they are charged protecting thier shooty coleagues.
All of that is pointless against Shooty armies though, so in limited circumstances they can work.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
terminators are also good as a pin cusion.
one thing i have found is that poepl would rather shoot at a squad of 5 terminaotrs rather than a 20 ma crusaider squad. what is going to do more damage? whats going to be harder to break? what will take more time killing? the 20 man crusaider squad.
nobody has ever seen this. They are too slow to get to the banshees. Thats the point of his post.Originally Posted by Reflex

i have done similar to krone bezerkers. tearing through a squad or two plus a greater deamon that happened to pop out. i now run a 7 man squad with a soon to be added chappy in termy armor mounded in a LRC. well worth the points in my oppinionOriginally Posted by Silentspy7

It really depends on what army your going up against, and how big ur army is, personally I think regular terms r better considering they can shoot their heavy weapons and assault. Even though they strike last they will still almost always win a battle. Also if u give the sarge a tele homer then u can take out a key squad, like an IG command squad.
My Librarian's familiar just killed a fire warrior and passed two 6+ saves, he has earned the title of The Familiar
I agree with this. A buddy of mine is making a chaos army and its backbone is khorne beserkers. A nice squad of lightning clawed terminators with furious assault and a chappie is a REALLY nice reason for him to keep his beserkers the heck away. Considering that he's the one advancing, the terminatiors will always be the ones to assault, and frankly theres not a lot that can survive that many reroll to hit, reroll to wound attacks. They could also be of use by absorbing fire or rendering your opponents shooty units useless because they spend all of their time running away.Originally Posted by Anabis_Xero
keep in mind that with fleet or other movement enhancements, the opponents assaulty units can get the charge on your terminators. If thats the case, they're still a decent shield but might not make back their points.
