    Command Squad and Librarian

    Ok...

I fought a SM player last night. He had this Command Squad.

    Captain
    Apothecary - Melta Bomb
Company Standard Bearer - Melta Bomb
    Company Champion - Melta Bomb
    Master of Sanctity
    Vet Sergeant - Melta Bomb
    Epistolary
    4 SMs

The Lib was outfitted as follows.

    Librarian

    Artificer Armor
    Familiar
    Psychic Hood - Psychic Ability
Veil of Time - Psychic Ability
Might of Heroes - Psychic Ability
    Terminicator Honors
    Adamantite Mantle
    Iron Halo

    Pair of Lightning Claws

    *********

That damn squad chewed through everything it ran into. The Librarian wiped out a whole squad of my CSMs alone. Pretty much all his special characters had a power weapon or lightning claws along with termie honors. He told me the point cost of the squad was around 1k.

I really haven't faced so much assualt in one little squad before.

His Lib got 9 attacks on me in one assualt alone. Nuts.

I am a Necron, Chaos and SOB player... I never knew that SMs could field this sort of squad.

    wow. wow. wow.

Ok done. Not really a question here just a 'damn'!

Yeah, I have that squad coming out at about 700-800 points. It's mighty powerful, but also mighty slow. Unless he's infiltrating it, you can just stay away from it and 800 points of his army is to waste. Concentrated firepower and heavy weapons will be able to rip that squad apart. 2 Dev Squads with 4 Missile Launchers (that's 400 points, mind) would rip the entire squad to shreds in 3 turns, as the Apothecary cannot help against instant death and the only invulnerable saves are on the Librarian and Chappy.

Also, he couldn't have had an Adamantium Mantle and Iron Halo in the same army (let alone same character) as they are both Artefacts - you may only take one.j

Relasine summed it up pretty well. Squads illegal due to the artifacts and so slow its just asking to be shot up. I guarantee the first time he plays you with that and all you do is continually move away from the squad and shoot at it will be the very last time he fields it.

    1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant

    2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers

    3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC

lol, just shoot it with a Vindicator. That'll pretty much solve your problem right there.

I thought there was a rule against having more than one independent character in a squad.... or am I just day dreaming?

You can add up to 2 more HQ units to a command squad as per the rules on page 21 of the SM codex.

IF this bloke was really paying attention, hed have gone with the dual librarien single chaplain command squad. If you think what you faced is brutal, you should try that. Dual Fury of the anchients or Dual fear of the darkness comming out of drop pods, is one hell of a ruff thing to deal with.

hehehe..... that would be rad. But again, that would only work in all deep striking armies, because it is just toooooo slow. But I'm going to tell me friend who likes all sorts of cheesy and beardy things about this.... He'll like it.

He infiltrated with the squad and I did take it down to just the Lib and the Chappy with a single wound each. The one artifact per army thing... ugh. Yup, he would have lost that Lib alot sooner. Was still a good fight.

uh ya unless im going crazy im seeing 3 hqs in that squad- captain, libby, chaplain, and since when can libbys have 3 psychic powers, also the 2 artifacts thing has already been mentioned so if im right that guy did some uber cheating so to answer ur sort of question, SM cant field that kind of army, well they can but it wont be that ridiculously overpowered
My Librarian's familiar just killed a fire warrior and passed two 6+ saves, he has earned the title of The Familiar

The psychic hood counts as equipment, and not towards the limit on powers. However, he can still only use one a round. I'm suprised he put so many melta bombs in it and not power weapons. A squad like that should have nothing to do with tanks.

Clouseau: No. Fortunately I was saved by the darkness.
Chief Inspector Dreyfus: So what we need is more light.
