i don't think i am going to make friends with this post, but i was wondering if anybody doesn't like the Medusa campaign, just like me.
maybe i am a bit lame saying this, but IMO the whole medusa campaign is just a smart GW marketing campaign (isn't everything that comes from GW? ) in order to sell alot of new and hilariously expensive models that are based on already existing models.
the story is kinda lame, the vostroyans have quite a simple fluff that was probably not hard to think of as it's a mix of previous ideas and in the end, there will be a status quo anyway.
ok, the planet will die (sry necron players, GW will find a way to get around your goal, and the planet will still die), but in the end, no army will have archived anything that would be an advantage against other armies.
IMO, GW wanted to publish a new edition of city fight (which wasn't that well selling as they thought) for selling more metal, rulebooks etc., hence the campaign is just the the packing for their products.
Something besides that, which does support my theory though:
did you notice that in the new White Dwarf, there's an article of a guy called Jervis Johnson giving a heart-rending report about his children collecting warhammer models just for the heck of it, praising the idea of collecting to be the general purpose of GW series.
And right after that article, the new collecters-series of Gotrek&Felix is introduced as well as alot of pages with painting tutourials and more merchandise on highly literary books and of course the expensive collectors-models, which are at least 12,95 € (about 14$) by the way.
I don't want to make anyone anry or upset, it's just my opinion...
Well it is marketing... I think they do a great job, and quite frankly I am glad that they do so much for selling products. it is no secret that they do all those things to sell products, but think about it; It gives us some great stuff... you should have picked up that GW is not cheap by now. And as you know that this is marketing, then you have a choice about weather or not to play and by stuff for the Campain. Luckily GW are NOT one of those damn companies that make a new campain, and then it is impossible to play regular games for 3-6 months. GW pose an offer; take it or leave it... It's not like you can't just register and play with your regular army angainst a regular army.
BTW: some races get something out of winning!!! Tau is one... Warp Travel would make tau VERY powerful indeed. Necrons have a small chance, and if Eldar fail it would hit them hard.
The imperial and most of the others suck, I'll give you that.

What! GW using a campaign as a marketing ploy to sell more products! Proposterous!:shifty:
Eye of Terror and Armageddon ring a bell, but hey, at least they're bothering to develope something new instead of resting on their laurels and releaseing the same tired stuff.
Marketing ploys define the world we live in (where's the beef?). Everyone has to sell something, so why can't they sell it to you at inflated prices.:shifty:
Blais's Paint Studio-Getting broken armies good soft scores since 2009
Ill tell you what i dont like about the Medusa campaign is because im a guard player it means that we have no point in playing as the planet has a 0% chance of being held
Now dont get me wrong as im all about saving people form the scum of the warp but im tied of the guard being treated like a 2nd rate army
Now the war for armageddon i realy got into as we were fighting off massive ork forces for control of the very important would of armageddon and we were the most important army there as we were the ones doing most of the fighting
We had it all to lose on armageddon, what have we got to fight for now?
Wait, so you just figured out GW likes making money off us giddy guys? That they overprice things and make things in a way so we buy more? Just Kidding.
But seriously, this campaign is really just a little way to have us participating in the warhammer world, that way it may feel a bit cooler, and hoping that we might buy more of their stuff! Yay!
As for the IG, you dare say our task to help the people of Medusa escape is little?! We shall strive to save each and every soul, and someday they shall pay their great debt to the God-Emperor! You should be glad to serve him yourself, no task is a sign of us being 2nd rate!
I said i dont mind helping people but i just want us to have a chance of saving the planet
Im tied of GW making us lose all the time, heres a idea let have a crusade like in the ghosts books and take back this galaxy:yes:
A company trying to market product? Shame
I have no trouble with it, seeing as it costs me approximately bupkis to participate. And of course nothing drastic will really change in the expanded storyline of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, that doesn't bother me either. So no, the campaign doesn't bug me at all.
"Wife! You are abusing that Leman Russ model!"

Well I agree that this campaign isn't that great. It's definitely generic and boring, from an IG point of view. And the campaigns can too impact the 40k universe, but I don't think this one is going to.
Tyranids: 2500 pts
Imperial Guard: 1000 pts
Witch Hunters: 1000 pts
Well, i'm not touching Vostroyans with a barge-pole, metal IG? they were kiding right....
So i'm not going to buy anything new for Medusa V, i'm just going to play some more games which, to me is the fun part of the hobby.
White Dwarf is just a marketing plug done by idiots. WD319 was 40 pages shorter than WD310 the Battle reports contain blatant lies, rubish lists and, worst of all Ultramarines. Just ignore it the Gotrek and Felix stuff is rubish and from the extract of Orcslayer the book is awful, hello writing ability?
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
