Hi, I'm an Imperial Guard player but I just moved and had to leave my army behind. I was thinking that this would be a perfect opportunity to start making a second army! :shifty:
Could anyone tell me which Chapter you think would work the best for a Dread and Tank-heavy army? I'm definitely looking for an army without many infantry... (in other words, not Imperial Guard). I was thinking that the Salamanders would work well, based on their fluff, but their rules don't actually benefit tanks or dreads.
I was hoping that a SM Chapter would have rules allowing dreads to be troop choices, or points deductions on tanks or dreads, or anything else benefiting the machines rather than the troops.
Thanks in advance for the help
Tyranids: 2500 pts
Imperial Guard: 1000 pts
Witch Hunters: 1000 pts
You could always go with the Iron Hands chapter - they can field a lot of dreads - bit then, that limits the tanks - if you don't want to go mechanized that is - a lot of razorbacks/rhinos can be fun too (but they are death-traps on wheels though).
There are certain traits you can take to allow you to use up to 6 Dreadnoughts, which might fit the bill.
So Iron Hands perhaps? or Trait from Codex SM, but appart from that any Chapter could have massive levels of Armour, my Dark Angels could have 3 Dreads, 2 squads of 5 Tactical Marines(with Razorback transports) as troops and 3 Land Raiders.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
If you play a Black Templar Army with the trait "Heed the Wisdom of the Ancients" you can take up to 6 Dreads with the trait and Black Templars can take Land Raider Crusaders as a troop transport (won't count as a Heavy Support slot). So there you have 6 dreads, 3 heavy support armor slots and as many Land Raider Crusaders as you have troops.
The odd chapters can't take traits! (that's bloodangels, darkangels, space wolves, black templars and ultramarines (if you want the specials). So ignore the last post....
Not only odd chapters can't take traits.. but his math is wrong.. he's counting 6 elites, 3 HS ...
Nami kotogotoku, waga tate to nare. Ikazuchi kotogotoku, waga yaiba to nare.
We all have our days, I guess
Black templars can take 14 Landraider Crusaders and 3 Dreannoughts or Death wing can take the same amount of normal Landraiders and Dreadnoughts.
