What form of transport can we aquire for the IG??
Is it only the chimera?
Also if you have a dedicated vehicle, is it only that unit can use it, even after their death?
Thanks people :ninja:
KOS MOS is correct, although he missed out the Arvus Lighter and the Aquilla Lander from the Forgeworld range. These can be use as transports for some guard units, but only with your opponent's permission (like the valkyrie). The Arvus and Aquilla are not effective troop transports in their own right, they are taken more for fluff reasons than anything.
If you take a dedicated vehicle, then only the unit you bought it for can use it as a transport. Even if the "owning" unit gets wiped out, nobody else can ride in the transport vehicle.
Hope this helps,
Those look sweet man! How much do they cost in U.S. dollars? Oh, Luke Harvey or whatever your name is. I really wouldn't buy a transport because it would just be a little too costly, unless your loaded go ahead and buy any transport you want. I myself would perfer to buy a modified chimera.Originally Posted by rp252
Well see the reason, I ask is that I have Greyknights as an ally and would like to get them in faster and sadly they dont get a dedicated landraider ...
Maybe just a chimera will do.
Well, the Arvus and Aquilla are £50 and £85 respectively, so if my currency conversion is correct that would mean the Arvus is around $90 and the Aquilla is around $150. You would need to check this though. Hope this helps mate.Originally Posted by Twitchy
Luke Harvey, you could use a Rhino for your allied Grey Knights. It is likely better than a chimera, as it is cheaper, and all you want it for is to move the GK up close to your opponents battle line for charge next turn. Chimera's have more weaponry, but as you dont want to be sitting still when it is holding the GK, it is pretty pointless spending the extra points on those weapons.
Hope this helps.
If your useing allys then why not use a rhino with the knights as a fast attck chioce
OKay so from searching the pages of the DH codex, I can get a chimera, rhino or landraider... so if you purchase a transporter its counted as fast attack or as troop (with the unit your intend on using it with)Originally Posted by KOS-MOS
Also how much room does power armour take up?Good point... but then the good thing about transport with guns is that it can be attacking also, and not sitting around with nothing to do...Originally Posted by rp252
I love 40k but man it gets fiddley with all the codex's
5 words for you:
Squat Land Train
get hold of VDR and a load of plasticard and go for it
Everything you have been told is a lie!
You, uh, can't put GK into a Rhino OR a Chimera.Originally Posted by rp252Because GK cannot buy Rhinos.Originally Posted by KOS-MOSSearch more closely. GK in power armor cannot take transports of ANY kind. GK Land Raiders & GK Crusaders are Heavy Support choices and therefore cannot be used as allies. The *only* vehicle you can bring into an IG or SM list from the Daemonhunters is a non-GK Land Raider, but *only* if you buy it as a dedicated transport for an Inquisitor (with retinue) or an Inquisitor Lord. NOT for any Grey Knights.Originally Posted by Luke Harvey
Seriously, folks. The codex is very clear on this. In the Grey Knight entry, does it say "may purchase a transport"? Nope. The Chimera and Rhino are in the codex for Stormtroopers and Inquisitors to use. The GK Land Raider is a Heavy Support choice (so cannot be used by allies). And the vanilla Land Raider requires an Inquisitor with retuinue to buy it as a dedicated transport.
