Just wondering about the strength of the BA codex in comparison to the other main chapters that have their own codex i.e. SW DA etc. My friend seems to think that BA are the weakest at the moment but i think that they are all basically the same, apart from the chapter specific units such as honour guard and the like.
If you notice this notice then you will notice that this notice is not worth noticing!
Oh boy. Okay, this question could turn into a thread full of nothing but complaining about how overpowered the Blood Angels are. As such, the moment I see people whining about it and veering off topic, I'm going to close this thread.
However... we can all have a nice, friendly discussion that involves the BA, right?:shifty:
At the moment, Blood Angels are considered to be one of the most powerful Space Marine Chapters, because a lot of their Special Rules give the player quite a boon at a less than fair price according to some. Free Furious Charge on every model is one of the big ones, as well as the Death Company, a unit which most people find WAAAY overpowered and hard to deal with for the amount of points that the Blood Angel player spends on it (my own Death Company usually costs about 217 points ((give or take)) for approx. 6-8 models). Also, the Black Rage, which allows the Blood Angels to close with their enemies even faster than they normally would, but also stops them from firing heavy weapons.
I think your friend could be in for a rude awakening if he/she comes up against
a good list. The only time they are weak is when they rely on heavy weapons.
I dont use them any more i just put the whole army in drop pods usualy 3
tacticals 4 dreads (1 furioso) and a land speeder tornado multi melta heavy flamer
and the dc run off and do their own thing.I think the best all round marine army
is the space wolves but on the charge BA all the way and feel no pain its a god send.
To help you get an understanding of the army a little bit better I'll send you a link to what i had just posted a couple minutes ago (not bashing you, but just simply stating so i dont get flammed at by other for double posting :shifty: ). http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...e-marines.html.
i agree with firedrakes opening comment. someone will say BA armt overpowerful, then someone will say, yeah well tere chaplains and death company.. then blah blah blah blah... if your friend says BA are underpowered... he is an idiot.. no space marine army is 'underpoered'. they all have there advantages and disadvantages... it just depends on what style you play and how well you play it.
there is not a poweless army, but there are certainly drawbacks to armies.
...and really incompetent players!
Heh, I hope your friend has fun if he runs into a big jump packing army like mine. Basically the BA are CC monsters but you have to know how to use them properly. You don't want to go sending an assault squad charging into a big unit of something like stealers but if you use superior mobility to pick off weaker units and avoid the true nasties BAs can be really tough to beat. This is how I play/have usually seen them played. High mobility, hard hitting but not much ranged firepower.
Yeah - that's the way I used to play mine too...DC + 2 10-man assault squad and some small support units. You should really try to play them like nilla marines though...it's the way they should be played I think; the DC is a really intimidating unit - most people doesn't want to get close...so place them in cover and in position to countercharge any unit which closes up on your infantry lines - then take another squad of assaultmarines, lot's of tactical and scout squads and a couple of Baal predators....you should at least try it, it rocks!
saying an army is weak is just asking for trouble...
Hence the warning that I gave at the beginning. To tell the truth though, I'm glad to see that people aren't bringing up how "horribly unfair" the Blood Angels are. Good job, everyone.Originally Posted by Reflex
