Im getting a Chaplain and I dont know what to equip him with. Should he be in Term armor so he gets 5 attacks with a power wep on a charge and 2+ save. Or put him in my Assault Squad to add an extra punch. I am mostly going to play againsts Necrons, Black Templars, and Dark Angels.
what army are you playing and points?
I play the Ultra Marines. Most of the battles that i will play would be 1000-1500 point battles.
well i dont suggest terminator armour as most of the armys u play have ap2 and power wepons galore and it marks him for death.
i like the chaplain with a jetpack, boltpistol and meltabombs. its what i use so i am biased but thats for a good reason, it works.
yes for a cheap effective commander i recommend that option although putting him and the assault squad in a rhino instead saves ahell of alot of points at this level of game play.
its just one point of upgrade for a good leader and the squad gets an extra layer of protection.
well if you use him as a leader and you want him into combat fast i suggest a jumpack, terminator honors and a plasma pistol, or if its in terminator armour then maybe go for either 2 lightning claws, a chainfist and a powerfist, or his basic crozius arcanum and power sword (this will give him 6 attacks that ignore armour saves and have very strong close combat capabiltys) and if you dont give him power fists give him melta bombs, and if hes a independant character without terminator armour, give him artificer.
Back from a long adventure.
What do you guys have for your Chaplain?
As Brother to Brother (i also play the mighty Ultramarines), there is nothing sexier than a Chaplain in Terminator Armour with his Crozius being mean as it is and a Storm Boltor looking rather elegent. However Wyrd does have a point it does make him a rather sexy target as most Terminators do. The Assault pack option gives the Chaplain a rather sexy appeal by boosting his range, but then there is also the Chaplain mounting his fat arse on a bike..... making the Chaplain again pick up sex appeal, however there is nothing that bad with the old Chapie in Power Armour, he becomes sexier with the addition of a Master Crafted or a Combi choice for your long range. And adding Frag and Krak never hurts. Hope this helps, oh last of all resize the Ultramarine "REPENT" banner as its the meanest and make sure it gets up that flagpole.....!!!!
lately my chaplain has been pretty basic a bolt pistol and the stuff that he comes with seems cheap i know but hes taken out whole squads on his own so hes still worth it but if i feel like tooling them up i say them cos i take 2 in alot of games temie honours, powerfist, crozius, rosarius that is a really awsome mix since if yuor opponent has better initiative then you ya can just switch on the fist and if they dont beet them down with the crozius also dont give him terminator armour its a waste since you already hav a 4+invul your better off with a jump pack so you can slam him at high speed into your opponents squads

without fail every battlei have a chaplain
he has a jumppack, bolt pistol, and meltabombs
96pts of hurty death.
i call him mr. annoying cause he is!
i put him as close as possible to the enemy and charge him straight down their guns.
combat gauranted turn two and he has the ability to deal with a tank should he need to.
for those of you who say that he will get shot up turn one, well, its rarely happened and if he does the two rhinos full of men usually reap revenge for him.
This will give you a realatively "cheap" commander that can dish out alot of punishment and isnt too heavy in points
