this is just a question i wanted to ask a few of you that have played Cities of Death.
do you now prefer to take men, so you have superior numbers and lasgun fire OR do you still prefer to take tanks.
so for example do you in a 1500 point game take 3 tanks (say a chimera and 2 russ varieties) but now in CoD you find that your taking maby only 2 tanks, (say 1 leamn russ and a chimera or only 2 russ tanks, or even just a hellhound and a russ tank)?
i have been playing black templars latley and have seen about 3 or 4 guard armies, mind you they were only 1000 point games, all of them only had 1 tank in them, a basilisk. (simply to have it sitting there just plopping out shells down a single street).
some had a hellhound.
do you also find you are taking more flamers and less plasma and melta guns? and heavy weapons, are you taking more in your infantry plattons?
just a few questions to go with some city tactics i am trying to think up for my up coming guard army.
Hellhounds and a Bassie or two are the way to go. Bassie to cover all the spots you can't see, and Hellhounds because of the no-coversave. Also once in cover, a Hellhound is just as or more efficient at killing MEQ armies than a Russ because of its accuracy.

my only CoD game I've played so far was with an Armored Company vs. Grey Knights. Now, under any other circumstance that would have been a hilarious slaughter, in favor of the AC. But, partly due to crappy deployment and partly due to the cover all over the damn place, they actually dismantled me, completely. Lesson learned: russes are something more of a liability in CoD then a help.
The hellhound rocks though, it's such an underestimated tank but whenever I take it, that thing never ceases to amaze me. In CoD the amount of cover that people come to rely on just makes it nastier. And it's no slouch either, s6 will definitely at least hurt something.
My 2000 CoD/All comers list has light infantry on 1 guard platoon (my other troops choice is an Armored fist that starts mounted up and is thrown at the enemy. I don't give them flamers though because I would rather the ap2 goodness of the plasma gun.
