So in the online catachan codex, it says that a squad, well pretty much all squads, are a sergeant and between like 3-5 or 7-9 or whatever deathworld vets. Then it says "up to 3 models may have one of the following:" and then lists the special weapons.
Since it says models, and not deathworld vets, are you allowed to give the sergeant one of the special weapons since he is a model in the squad?

Well sergeants are just the same as normal guardsmen but they have a laspistol and close combat weapon but your right that in the codex it say any 3 "models"
I guess that means you can but if you make him a vet sergeant id say no as now he can take things from the armoury, there all the same anyway so i dont think it matters but it would be nice having a sergeant with a flamer like in the movies
"Hey sarge, this lasgun is heavy. I wish we had something lighter."
