You don't guess range anymore in 4th ed. You simply place the template and roll scatter dice. If you can't see your target (indirect fire) then you add an extra d6 to the scatter roll.
I think Vindicators are good because now you can move and fire, which allows you to pop out from behind cover. You roll the 2d6 for scatter, but if the direction die comes up Hit, them BLAMMO. Plus, they have options to demolish buildings and such.
Landspeeders are a good way to zip around quickly, avoiding being slowed by terrain.
Whirlwinds are good because they don't need line of sight.
I've never used the new drop pod rules, but they seem popular.
You just place the blast marker and roll scatter....Thing is you still have to make some guessing as you measure after you've declared which unit you are shooting at. My firend almost allways forget that an indirect bassy has a minimum fire range of three feet!

Vindicators can work in C.O.D, as the enemy cannot easily use 48" weaponry i.e las cannons,
troops are often huddled in buildings, vindicators can take advantage of this.
Although a melta weapon assault from round a corner and *boom*.
One is not to question why, but to do and die.

Hence why you have those assault Marines sitting behind the Vindicator, kicking rock around in the corpse-littered tracks it leaves behind.
I though Vindicators were designed to be in Urban combat.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
Well, my belief is that they are designed for sieges, because of the cannon the Vindy has can really f*ck up some buildings/fortresses.Originally Posted by <E!_Mance>
