I have a drop pod army. 3 full tactical squads with 2 meltaguns and sergeants with powerfist, 1 Dreadnought, 1 Terminator squad and a command squad with 2 melatguns and a sergeant with powerfist. The problem is what hq to take with this army: Master is great beacuse of Ld 10 that he gives to any squad (squads will take a lot of shooting when they arrive), Chaplain is also great beacuse is squad is fearless (and rerolls in charging) and a Librarian is great beacuse of his powers and a force weapon.
Anybody got any ideas what to use???
Do you have a regular army you play against or is it for a general list?
its a drop pod army. I would recommend a terminator librarian on the termie squad or a captain/chaplain on the command squad. the captain is good because of rites and versatility, but the chappie is awesome bc free power weap, 4+ invuln save and fearless.
Well, since its a Drop Pod army, I would highly recommend a Librarian. The one force power (Fear the darkness I believe, or something along those lines) is essiential when you drop pod right beside their troops and cause everyone to take morale checks or fall back.

If you take a chappie against a cc or fast attack army and get assaulted when you land the benefits of re rolling assault hits is lost, or if you drop further away yu'll get shot up before you get there.
I would take the master, for the Ld, you dont want units falling back before they have a chance to fight.
Librarians don't do it for me. but thats me, But I'm sure someone will find you a use for him.
And that somebody is me.
Terminator Librarian with Force weapon & Master crafted Combi-meltagun. Give him Bionics (perils of the warp is a little lessenes here).
Fear of the Darkness will rid you of a great many enemies too close to you. Fury of the Ancients is a must if you're landing on the flank of a line-abroad formed army, they're all possibly pinned with a LOT of hits, making the enemy piecemeal for you.
Storm of the Emperor's Wrath is a great close-range attack if you're swamped and want to punch a hole in horde armies, it's also free.
Might of Heroes makes a great buffer to you when assaulted, so take it for Hormagaunts, Dark Eldar, Etc.
Veil of Time is great in close combat too, re-rolling that hit & wound on the enemy's vital piece will cause some sweat to gush.
Vortex of doom... Could work if you're fighting Nids, IG, or Orks. Not anything else.
Have the squad armed to the teeth with Assault Cannons, and have as Many Chainfists as you can handle on them. Shoot like crazy at the biggest, baddest thing you are allowed. Then let the 2+/5+ carry you away from many casualties (hopefully) and prepare to deal death in the next turn.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
It may be a general list, but what army is in the majority?
Some general tips.
- Tyranids, take the Librarian. His force weapon surpasses the Synapse ability.
- Necrons, any HQ with a power weapon, they will not be back.
- Space Marines, Chaosy or not, go with the chaplain. Use him to tie up the shooty squads. That way you aren't blasted to pieces.
- Imperial Guard/Tau, take the Librarian. Both have low leadership, thus will fall easily to Fear of the Darkness
- Inquisition, I'd say chaplain. Not much experience there.
- Dark Eldar, Master, they have ways to nix your Ld, this boost will help.
- Eldar, Librarian. Negate each of their psychic abilities.
- Orks. Master, their greater numbers results in massive outnumbering in combat. You'll need the leadership boost.
hmmmm mabye to put all of them in a squad . That way I have everything covered (not to mention a squad thats worth 500 pts:blink::x ). I know, stupid idea.
Sounds like your squads with Vet Sgts and Termies are LD 9 as is, so leader talents are a bit wasted. I think the Fear of the Librarian is likely your best bet for this army, altho I have never really gone that route myself, but for an all drop pod unit I'd try it out. Unless your tight for points, then the Chappy is your all around pound for pound champ
