Yes, worth the points.
Yes, but not worth the points
No, but points are not an issue
They suck all over
Why do people criticise assault squads for being too expensive???!!!
An extra 7pts per model for a jump pack isnt bad.
How useful do you find assault squads?
Do you field squads of 5 or 10?
Chappie in a squad of 10 = massacre anyone?
What are your views..........
i run a chappie and 5 assaulties w/ 2 plasma in 500 points. it basically owns everything.
ya know, i've never heard anyone criticise a 10 man squad with a chaplain after it it takes down their best combat units with relative ease...
My point exactly, i know people who dont use them as they say " ooh thats almost 300 points"Originally Posted by GreyKnight6962
yea 300 points in a 1500-2000 pt army well spent!!
ok they do draw in alot of enemy fire but by the 2nd turn they are in combat and then consolidate ready for another assault
Can you consolidate into close combat?
in a starndard marine army sure i would use them... However, as a Black Templar player the only thing i found when using the was that they get into combat quicker and die quicker. in a black templars army i find them to be useless really, as basically all units fillt he roll of assault. so i say no.
Yeah But in a blood angles army they are absolute pwnage
THERE ARE ACTUALY 8 WONDERS OF THE WORLD...AND CHUCK NORRIS IS 4 OF THEM!
Not if your against a canny enough player.Originally Posted by easyco
A 10 man squad with a Chaplain, while it will rip through anything, I feel is too much. Once you've kitting the unit out, chappie included, your looking at over 300 points, maybe even over 350.
Thats two 10 man tactical squads with special weapons in each.
Now they are worth it, but I'd say in squads of 6 or 7 rather than 10. Or maybe even two small ones of 5 or 6.

You can consolidate into a close combat I believe.
I don't like them, i'm a DA player and go more shooty than assaulty, Terminators have the perfect balance of firepower and combat while being resistant to Basalisks, Leman Russ' and ML.
Certainly 10 of them can cut a swathe through alot of armies, but they're pretty pointless against Mech armies, cost more than tac's and die as easily. You can try and cover hop, but then get indirect fired, or if your opponent is a clever shooty player he'll spread out his forces 7" to stop massacres to new combats and blast them.

I like using 'Blessed be the Warriors' with a 10 man assault squad w/2 plasma pistols plus a chaplain with jump pack and plasma pistol. This seems to do quite well as the unit can absorb some fire while crossing the field. The only problem is my usual opponent has started getting good at using a small inexpensive unit to tie up my unit in CC, then charging me with a more powerful unit so that I don't get the charge bonus. Even without the charge, I find that 10 assault marines + chaplain can do enough damage to make them worth it. It's one of the staples in my list.
