i'm torn between having two chaplains or one chaplain and one captain. two chaplains gives me an extra 4-6 death company marines, but having a captain ensures better leadership tests while he's alive. which do you guys think i should go with?

DC is powerful, but not the shiznit. Get the Captain.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
Well, first off, how many points are you playing with?
If you're playing anything less than 1500 (and even 1500 is pushing it) I wouldn't use more than a single Chaplain, as the Death Company just can't be everywhere on the board at once. I think you might find a High Priest or Librarian to be more useful than a Captain, but that's my opinion.
I agree totally with Firedrake. I used to play Blood Angels and for games up to 1500 points I only used my Chaplain as the HQ. Espescially since the BA Chappy costs 100pts more than a normal Chappy, it's a waste of points to throw in a Captain when you already have a 200some point Chappy with his own retinue of psychos with powerfists. If you're playing a game of more than 1500 points then the Captain is a great idea becuase it allows you to not worry so much about your Chappy's life and the leadership is always good. I would rather use the points from the captain on a Sanguinary High Priest but thats just me. Hope this helps,

Remember, DC are strong, but everyone that knows anything about BA will target them with range until they are dead. A second Chaplain really doesn't do much other than denies your list flexability by putting all of your eggs in one basket(so to speak) those points could have been far better used to pick up another small assault squad(by itself) or, add to other squads, by adding more squads, you give yourself a good opportunity to add to the death company anyhow AND give you more options during the game. Having a really huge DC can be fun, but there are much better ways of acheiving this. My personal favorite, is having as many infantry/troops as I can my 2000pt BA list often ran 6 troop choices, 2 assault marine choices, I typically got 10 to 15 death company, and I never had to get a second chaplain.
That long explanation was to preface why I am reccomending getting that captain, or even a librarian is well worth the points if you are intending to spend so many points on HQ choices.
Hope this helps.

WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
::gets up and sweeps the dust off his bones.::I'd recommend both a Captain and a Chaplain, granted the last fight I was in was 2000 points. But I had Lemartes and a Force Commander and let me tell you something, they countered the nids I was against and caused all sorts of chaos for the enemy. So take both and see what happens, if you like the results, then keep with 'em, but if you don't. Well atleast you figured out which suits you more.::yawns and goes back to sleep.::
I'll be damned before the soldiers of the Emperor are just left to rot!

"DISS NOT THE EMPEROR'S POINTED STICK, HERETIC!"
If it doesn't work with the Emperor. Then it's been officially Karmooned!!!
BEWARE THE POWER OF THE LIGHT-BRIGHT!
thanks guys. i'm playing with 2000 points. if that changes any of your advice, let me know

If you're playing with 2000 points then you definetly need that captain, in fact I'd upgrade him to a force commander. When you're up to that high a point level, having 2 HQs is a must espescially with a BA army. While your Chappy is off with the maniacs, you're going to want another command option that you will be able to use much more stratigically, so yes, go with a second HQ. Good luck and good hunting,

Not in the 4th edition SM codex, but in the 3rd edition BA codex the wording is different, not to mention some other things.:yes:Originally Posted by Crusade
