Welcome to Librarium Online!
as some may now know, i am a black templars player, and a good one at that.
i have enough tactics to take down alomst any army. However, there is always one army that i cannot win aginst, i have not lost, but i cant go that extra mile stone to win. the 3 games against said army are ticking over in my head, making me think what i did wrong, how i could improve. of course every army has a weakness and black templars in of course close combat.
said army, is impposible, i have tryed next to anything. mega crusader squads, land raider crusaders, predators, vindicators, jump infantry, 2 chaplains... just cant go that extra mile stone...
now said army is an eldar army, with 3 wraithlords, 20 banshees and a d cannons... being the main part. all in 1000 points.
the worst part is the 3 wraithlords, i have tryed assault cannons, dreadnoughts (yeah real good idea (N) )
Stop me if i going down the rong track, but this is my suggestion
An army like this is un balanced and This is how to spell there doom
split up your force into sections about 18 a ways from each other. Make sure that every gun in your army can hit each section. Place a combat squad that looks hard (large Crusader Squads work well), put the Emperor champain with them and us them as bait. The Eldar charge in and butcher them, look hurt. It will make him feel good about what he did, then let him spent the rest of the game running around trying to get to the seperate fire bases. by turn six his army will be shot to bits and bleeding. with alittle luck you will have a fire bace or to left and you win
Its simple to beat this army. Put everyone in a rhino and run rings around it, claiming objectives. With leftover points buy as many LST's as you can. That will guaranteed obliterate the eldar.
PS: are the banshees in a wave serpent? if they are then bah, they wont hurt your vehicles, if they arent then simply chew them up with LST's.
Whirlwinds work nicely too.
d-cannons arent a problem, a single heavy bolter means you will be taking out 50 points and the whole damn gun. Its only 24" too so odds are you get 2 shooting phases before it hits you. The storm bolters on your rhinos can kill plenty as well.
Basically anything mechanised except land raiders. If you take them head on your gone (I know thats what BT are meant to do  ) but in this case you will have to outmaneuver eldar to win. Its not actually that hard unless they field falcons and vypers.

If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
You also forgot to mention modestOriginally Posted by ReflexOnly two:Originally Posted by Reflex
1) Hidden power fists to take down the Wraithlords (as I'm sure you already use)
2) Have you used drop pods yet? (I didn't see you mention them in the list of things you've tried) I would use drop pods with bolter initiates to come down on the d cannons or the banshees and rapid fire
Black Templars 3000 points
Tau Empire 1750 points
Tyranids 1500 points
Hordes of Chaos *Coming soon*
I wouldn't say he's being overly cocky. There's nothing wrong with knowing you're good at something and telling people that. It's only an issue when you rant on and on about it, annoying everyone else.Originally Posted by C'Tan Pooky
