I have a question:
My Grey Knights are fearless. In the codex it states that they automatically pass moral checks and cannot be pinned.
The purpose of this, does that mean they automatically pass Leadership tests as well? A pinning test is a leadership test, and that is passed automatically so that does that mean passing Leadership tests are automatic too?
The reason I ask is because when fighting a Tyranid Hive Tyrant, the "Horror" requires anyone attempting to charge the Tyrant to pass a leadership test and if they fail you can't charge.
The fluff for Grey Knights is that they aren't afraid of anything so which is it here?
If your models are fearless they automatically pass any leadership test they are required to make as it relates to morale. So, for instance, you would automatically be able to resist "the horror" but you would still need to make a test to use your psycic powers (assuming a test is nesessary).
That is great. The question is: where did you read that because that's not how it was listed in the codex.
That's a negatory good buddy! Morale and pinning tests use leadership to function. For the most part, fearless units pass the tests, as in the Horror, ot the Flayed Ones ghastly rule. But some leadership tests deal with how organized your troops are, instead of how brave/stupid/devoted they are. The only example i can pull out right now is the activation rule at the start of the senerio: Battle at the Camps (the three way battle).
They would pass the leadership test automatically. In the codex it states "they are inured to every manner of horror or deathfrom their initiation; no power in the galaxy can blunt their purpose."
I would have to say that they would pass the check.
Bad news fellow DHers. I called the Rulez boyz and they said that Leadership and moral checks are totally different and that you still must take leadership test when called to do so.
OK, that sucks and makes no sense. So they pass there morale checks, but if a big nasty with "horror" comes up they run away like scared rabbits. I am sorry but that makes no sense to me.
GW worded it like that for a reason. For game-play purposes, they want fearless troops to still be vulnerable to some forms of testing, like psychic tests for example. General rule of thumb- if it says morale or pinning, then it goes away; if it says ld, then youve got to take it.
Grey Knights hardly run away like scared rabbits. What do they have, a 3 in 36 chance to fail a Leadership check? Stop whining.
GKs do not run away from CC ever. This is extremely brave and equallyl as good of a bonus in gaming purposes. The horror from hive tyrants represents a psychic energy (although it does not count as one or work as a normal psychic power) racking their brains with the immense power of the hive mind. Thats some scary *****.
