Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello there !
I need help, I need suggestion how to beat the necron with an IG army. My friend and I have played 3 games and I never came closer enough to say it was funny. It was always a massacre and he agree , with all is knowledge to build strong army, he don't understand what I can do to beat necron with IG.
What are your suggestion, regardless of the senario....
BTW: I have enough of everything to build the IG army I want to play.
Hey, Nybbas. First, welcome to LO. I suggest you read the rules (found here). ^_^
Next, I would like to suggest to you to not post the same topic in more than once place. This is similar to spamming the forum, and people frown upon that. You will get your help when posted in the correct forum (IG forum, here, is a very good place to post - the Necron forum, not quite so much), I assure you, as we have a lot of experienced players here who frequent the IG forum. Be patient.
To beat Necrons, first you need to get a lot of high strength, low AP weapons (Plasma, Missile Launchers, etc.). This will give you some nice kick against their armour saves, and with Missile Launchers you'll be forcing them to ignore the WBB rule.
Second, you need to let people know what you are facing in his army. Is there a Monolith? Destroyers? Lots of Warriors? Scarabs? These things and more are what people need to know to give you more than just a general "helping hand" against Necrons, but instead more specific advice.
Thank for your recommandations regarding to forum...I realy appreciate those.
Then , The problem is my friend his ( so I 'am) able to field what ever he want. So I'm more looking for a general way to beat the necron. Fielding a lot of high strengh weapon with good AP is a common sense way, I need tactics...
We are playing most of our game in Cities of death scenario
Beating crons with IG is hard, no doubt, our massed lasgun are next to useless, they kill tanks easily and we have difficulties in exploiting their weaknesses in close combat.
Anyway cities of death gives you some more option: cover reduces the efficacy of their weapons and you can maximize it with camaleoline. Ammo dumps for your heavy weapons teams are a must, and some obstacle to keep them slowed. Tanks don't live long against them, so you should use mostly camo infantry with a well hidden basilisk. They have res orb, but to use it the squads must be bunched around the priest, so wherever the basilisk shell scatters it will hit something. If they spread out, aim at those out of the res orb range.
If you have ratlings, 8 of them will get rid of c'tans and lone jetbike-priests.
Infantry squads against crons are no more than hit-points for the missile launcher, get the minimum of them and invest your points on grenadiers with plasma, veterans with 3 melta, special weapons teams with democharge and melta (maybe deepstriking), anti-tank squads with lascannon & ammo dump, command sections with plasma and medic, or commisar and energy weapons. All these can move and shoot, so if you can keep them out of sight and move out only when something gets in range.
If you use the basilisk it will attract deep striking scarabs with disruption fields, a single infantry squad with a flamer will silence that nuisance.
Melta guns can't throw the additional dice against monolith, but they still score a penetrating hit on a 6.
Not really an accurate description, as long as at least one guy is within range of the res orb, the whole squad enjoys the benefit, so it doesn't really force them to bunch up that much. In general, CoD benefits the necrons more than you as they get a 4+ cover save on top of everything else and thier weapons benefit greatly from the short range offered by CoD. Combine that with the fact that you usually need some considerable range to get adequate mileage out of your heavy weapons, and this is gonna be an uphill battle. They have res orb, but to use it the squads must be bunched around the priest, so wherever the basilisk shell scatters it will hit something
Good units are Ogryns and rough riders.
Ogryns absorb bullets well and in COD they get 4+ cover saves to accompany their high toughness and number of wounds and they are pretty handy in HTH. Put all of that together with the generally limited LOS in CoD fights and Ogryns are pretty beastly against 'Crons.
Rough Riders can absolutely obliterate a squad of necrons that outnumbers them 1 1/2-2 times over and considering they start out at 7 pts less even with hunting lances, they are pretty efficient. Just be sure to limit their exposure to fire before hitting the enemy.
Keep in mind, Necrons are pretty poor in HTH in general, so a command squad with a power fist or two can easily take out a squad of warriors. It really just comes down to timing, playing Tau, I find I can easily turn a game against the necrons with a well timed move into HTH.
Blais's Paint Studio-Getting broken armies good soft scores since 2009
Things that kill Necrons-
Leman Russ' (Demolishers too)
Las canons (HQ anti-tank squads rule)
Ogryns in close combat
and contrary to popular belief
lots and lots and lots of lasguns (like 50)
and let's not forget the IG greatest friend in City Fight-COVER!!!!
oh and against C'tan---Ratlings
well you can take a page out of my book, and lead a full 10 man unit of roughriders into battle.... if 10 of my rough riders can take out 10 terminators, then surely they can take out a unit of warriors, especially since the rough riders strike first!

Pssst.... give me kudos....
Done the math: 50 lasguns are 300 points and they should kill on average 3 warriors ( 54 points)Originally Posted by Aizar Kel
not so economic.
I play Necron and what you need to do is prioritize targets. First off basic guardsmen with the las gun shooting a Necron is and almost luaghable attemp to kill them course when you got 40 las rifles firing it can dent us up. It would be nice to tell us what you have and what necron player has. Anyway you're basic guardsmen needs to be outfitted with rockets grenade luanchers plasma guns anything like that. Leman Russ should blow up Destroyers and Heavy D. our only long range firepower then hit warri0ors and force phase out. Bassie should be doing the same. And watch out for scarabs if they have disruptor fieklds they can blow up tanks. I would give you some more help but gotta go.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
Are you those people?
