    World war II Missle launchers

Since I like world war II a lot I plan on having a new way for the whirl wind missle launcher platform.
    Here's the pic.

Do you think it is a good idea?
With the rest of the tank i will be able to form it into a rhino.
So it's like a two in one deal.
The rules for this would be the amrour value and all that but it will be moved by a chimera no stats no points just used to pull if I move so so if move back of Missle to front. The chimera just sit's out of battle as a more realistic thing.

Personally I think it would look absolutely amazing as a Whirlwind mod. I love it when people do anything that makes their models more personalized as it gives a personal feel to the army and shows real care towards the modeling process. However as cool as it is, some "stuck-up" people may not allow you to use it in a tournament if your going to just keep the platform on the board and not the tank. Other than that I think its a wicked idea. Good luck

Good thing theres not a lot of stuck up people around me.
This conversion will require a lot of green stuff but it will look real cool.
Hope fully i will be able to get pics for it.

Great pic . Its good to see players converting and personalising their figures and vehicles. Be sure to post pics of the finnished vehicles.Good luck:yes:
If you have access to the old rhino accessory sprue then you can get some launcher boxes just like those in the pic they will do excellently for this conversion. To see what they look like find a picture of the early pattern Vindicator with the hull mounted Hunter Killer missile

    nice

you dont even need green stuff, use balsa wood or even cardboard for the main rocket holders and be creative about the base that holds them up

its been done before many times

    good luck

I also read somewhere (think it was the DA codex) about a guy taking a half-dozen or so of the hunter-killer missile bits and glueing them together. Might give you the same effect.
Mickey: "You're just making this up as you go along!"
The Doctor: "Yuuuup. But I do it brilliantly!"

    Hey Crusade,

That will make a really good looking Whirlwind conversion. I have seen something similar done before using the old hunter-killer missile boxes (just as Lord Maxton said) and it looked really good - I mean REALLY good. As getting your hands on so many hunter-killers may be a little difficult, you could use strips of "box" plastic (like this); buy a few strips and cut them up to make the launcher. You could mount it on the current whirlwind launcher mount and you would end up with a funky looking vehicle.

However, the missile launcher you have pictured above is not WWII, it is much more modern. If you are going for a more WWII look you need to make your whirlwind launcher look alot less hi-tech Some examples of WWII rocket launchers can be found here:

    http://www.lonesentry.com/articles/n...igure1_400.jpg
    http://www.worldwar.za.pl/second/wor...01_wwii_01.jpg

Not WWII, but looks similar to stuff the Russians used in WWII

    http://www.mobhome.de/vehicles/pics/calliope_02.jpg

As you can see, the WWII ones look alot more low-tech then your example. If you are going for a WWII look, build something more in line with these. I think your current idea for the conversion will look very good though, and it won't be that difficult to make.

Good luck with the conversion mate, post up some pics when you finish so we can see how it turns out!

    Cheers,
    Rich.
