So, has anyone read the recent FAQ's on GW's UK site?
Space Marines didn't get hit as hard as anyone else (poor tyranids and tau, nothing went in their favour) but we did lose the ability to deepstrike landspeeders with multimeltas effectively.
Now, a deepstriking landspeed counts as having moved more than 12". It can only be glanced when it lands, but it can't shoot.
A part of me is glad to see that silly maneuver done away with, but a part of me thinks that the GW rules staff might be suffering from some sort of massive communal hemmoraging.
Yep, there wasn't much good news in those FAQ's.
As much as it kinda makes sense, its still a bit harsh with the Landspeeders. At least they can only be glanced. Saves 'em from bolters.
And I tend to agree with the communal hemmorage thing...
But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
At least they clarified Heed the WIsdom of the Ancients. I dont know about you, but i always wondered over wether they were saying that the 0-1 limit was removed for the elites or all dreads. It was kinda confusing for me. Yeah, tau did get hit pretty hard.
"God made man, but Samuel Colt made man equal."
Deep striking landspeeders was a bad idea anyway.
Your landspeeder is mobile enough to reach any point on the table in two turns, the only difference is the none deep striking landspeeder will be exactly where you want it.
Next, you might have been able to shoot something turn one, even if it wasnt a tank, maybe your able to both move your speeder up, and pick off a defenless gaunt or something(hey why not, its 5 points in the right direction)
Finally there is no risk to moving and staying out of LOS.
Therefore not deep striking is a more solid tactic.
The only down side is fluff for drop poding armies, the speeders probably wont be deep striked anymore.
However, you could always reason the speeders make a scouting force, which seems resonable, also dark angles use speeders as scouts (amoung other things) so there is fluff bases for skimmers to be used in this role.
The drop pod one i found most disturbing.
Heya! Could someone please provide a link directly to the FAQ page? I cant access the uk gamesworkshop site at work, but it seems that a link from a conversation here might be able to get around it! Dont have any other real internet access available to me.
Oh, and if it goes against copyright or forum rules for some random reason, then yeah, dont worry about it, but otherwise it would be great if someone could do so.
-Edit- Never mind guys, just found the conversation i needed. A little destracted here at work... Thanks anyway!
-double edit- And it doesn't work...strange it works for the uk online store which is otherwise blocked...Does anyone know a place I can access these faq's other than the uk or us sites?

There is already an thread about the new FAQ, so if we could keep the discussion to that please. Keep the forum tidy, you know.
