I hope I am not all too wrong with posting this topic here.
My problem is the following: I have never liked Land Raiders all too much but have finally decided to order one nonetheless (just to get my army options one step further towards complete). After thinking it through back and forth I have decided upon buying the Land Raider Crusader, firmly believing (if I am wrong on this then my problem is "solved" rather quickly) that the box contains all the Crusader bits as well as the standard Land Raider bits (lascannons and stuff).
I am more in need of anti-horde- than anti-tank-power and I just love the twin-linked assault cannon. The ability to carry an uber-Command squad with multiple attached HQs or a squad of 8 Terminators also seems interesting. And as I like my lascannons better in the (even compared to LRs in most cases) more durable tactical squads I will want to stick to the Crusader most of the time.
That was much talk and little message, I'm sorry. The point is: the day will come, when I will want my Crusader to be a standard LR for a battle or two, and I was going to ask if there is an easy way to make the sponsons (hurricane-bolters vs. twin-linked lascannons) and the turret weapon only semi-permanent and therefore interchangeable. (Some have managed the trick on the Predator by adding magnets, for example. Is this going to work on the LR, too, or does construction of the model not allow for it? On the Dreadnought, weapon options remain replacable by just not glueing them onto the model. Is it maybe even as easy as this with the LR?!)
Is there possible help on this or is it just wishful thinking? In advance: thank you very much for your kind support!

Just so you know the LRC does (or atleast it did 2 years ago) come with the Lascannons and HB to make the standard LR. However, realize one thing while reading that guys page on how to make it convertable, I DO NOT think it comes with an extra set of mounting brackets to hold the lascannons. In other words the little mounting things that hang out the side of the LR work for both Hurricane Bolters and Lascannons so they only give you one set. I will checkthis when I get home since I still have all of my leftover bits sitting around. The other items are definately removable such as the TL AC's and the melta and you can just put a cap or the HB in there. Though again the TL AC and the TL HB use the same mounting top plate so you can only have assemble one(again I will check). You may be able to work around this by just buying one of the LR sprues with those parts on it, this should be possible, you will have to check out the GW site to see.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
Thanks a lot for linking me to that "documentation", cebwj! But it unfortunately sounds a little too complicated for my taste (I am really by far more a player than a modeler/painter). Since it looks like an awful lot of work and since - as LordMephiston also mentioned - I would have to order extra-sprues / -bits, I fear my laziness will prevail and leave me bound to my Crusader.
I would appreciate it very much, LordMephiston, if you could verify those missing parts, so I can estimate how much commitment were affordable for such a project.
Thanks for you help, you two!
Hey, if you just order a second weapons spru from GW's (the Land Raider Sprue it'll have all the extra bits you'll need to make the sponsons swappable. It was a lot of work, but I couldn't think of another way to do the sponsons. Those were the only extra bits needed to make the LRC convertable. If you have any questions just let me know or PM me.
