Well? Would you? Because I don't really wanna buy one if I won't ever play it, and LRs offer GREAT painting opportunities...So...is it useful at all?
I use two myself crusaders with psybolts are demon slayers of death. and a normal land raider offers daemon hunters the best troop/anti tank unit all in one and their very resilent.
read my thread on how my list has growm from a to b.
also i went to a tourney this saturday and placed 3rd, my brother got second and the best dude armound got 1st like always but me or my brother could have won if our armies were fully painted. Only been playing for 6 months or so myself, and this is my first army.
Great job Orius! And yes it is worth it cuz of the biggie bad thing about gks, NO ANTI-TANK. When I completely switch over to GK, (finishing my skinny blue --mans,) I'm definately gonna buy a LR when I get to around, maybe, 1000 points.
I would only recommend it if you play a lot of big point battles. In anything under 2000, it seems like a waste. And even then, I'd rather take 2 Armored Fists and a Leman Russ.
The LR is a great idea, but if you want to use it in a torney, get an idea of your opponents before you take it, nids, orks, imp guard (fire magnet) the lr will be a great asset. Space marines, eldar dark eldar, tau dont bring it, get more gk. If the oppoents are varied and there is a good chance that you will go up against any of the races, go ahead and take it. You can always use it as a fire magnet.
You know what they say, if you dont like the weather in houston...go back to where you came from
Two crusaders isnt the way to go. GKs need all the anti-tank they can get, and using two heavy support choices plus that many points on anti-infantry, a job your gk's can do just fine, is a mistake imo. The reg LRs have good potential, although you do always run the "putting all your eggs in one basket" risk. One lucky hit from lascannon fire can screw you for the rest of the game. They can lay down the law though.
Also, its not going to work as a fire magnet vs nids. The only nid anti-tank weps are Venom Cannon and warp blast, both of which are largely wasted on non-vehicle fire. Theyre going to do alot more damage to you if they take out a 250 point vehicle in a turn with a venom cannon than if they take out 1-2 gk with it. However, crusaders would have huge damage potential against the bugs..
Yeah the land raider's r pretty good but it also depends on which one u take, the land raider is pretty good as it is an anti-tank unit and an excellent unit to use against infantry although it doesn't have as many shots as the crusader. The crusader has a ***** load of fire power and has the capabilitie of destroying whole units with it's 'hurrican-pattern bolters', shooting 6 normal bolter shots and at close range it can shoot up to 12 rapid fiire shots along with 3 shots from the twin linked assualt cannon and 1 powerful shot of the multi melta. All in all the land raider's r worth it but only in large point battles such as 1500 onwards.
'No evil will escape the just punishment of rightenous'
i reckon the crusader would be the better one to get, sure the LR has bigger guns, but the crusader has more, a lot more. U just plow that thing down either side or middile if ur feelin cocky, and the enemy will hide to avoid being blasted by a hail of shots.
I'd rather take an anti-armor Dread and add a few PAGK here and there then waste 250+pts on a LRC, unless it was a battle far over 2000pts. 2000 and under, there are better alternatives for the GK.
